Home and Away Marilyn stands by Zane after shocking confession

Marilyn makes a firm decision about Zane in Home and Away after finally learning the disturbing truth about the crime that sent him to prison. Although the confession leaves her shaken, she refuses to turn her back on him and insists he deserves the chance to rebuild his life.

Zane tells Marilyn and Alf that he broke into a home as a teenager intending to rob it. When he was confronted by the owner, he panicked and swung the bat he had taken with him, accidentally hitting the man’s young daughter and leaving her badly injured.

The revelation is difficult for Marilyn to hear, and Zane clearly expects it to change everything between them. When he approaches her afterwards, he is prepared for rejection now that she knows exactly what happened.

Instead, Marilyn tells him that he has served his time and deserves a second chance. She makes it clear that she intends to stand by him rather than allow his worst mistake to define the rest of his life.

Marilyn then tries to help Zane take a practical step forward by asking Leah to consider giving him a job at the Diner. She believes employment could give him something positive to focus on while helping him establish a place for himself in Summer Bay.

Her determination puts her at odds with Alf, who remains deeply uncomfortable about their friendship. Alf quietly tells Leah to keep an eye on Zane, making it clear that hearing the truth has not eased his concerns.

Leah is also unsure and asks David for his opinion because he knows Zane’s history. David accepts that Zane has served his sentence but still advises caution, leaving Leah caught between Marilyn’s compassion and the concerns being raised around her.

Leah eventually tells Marilyn that the Diner roster is already too full to employ Zane, leaving Marilyn devastated. For her, the rejection represents another obstacle facing someone she believes genuinely deserves an opportunity to move forward.

Marilyn has already made her own position clear. Whatever reservations others may have about Zane, she is determined to judge him by the person he is trying to become rather than only by what he did in the past.
