Coronation Street: Betsy Swain blames herself after Dylan Wilson attack

Betsy Swain faces another heartbreaking emotional battle in Coronation Street when Dylan Wilson is brutally attacked, leaving her convinced she is somehow responsible for yet another tragedy.

In upcoming scenes, Dylan is found in the precinct having been violently assaulted and left unconscious. Nina finds him lying injured and immediately calls for an ambulance, with Dylan rushed to hospital as concern spreads across Weatherfield.

Ever since suffering her stroke, Betsy has found it difficult to move on from the events that changed her life. Although she has shown incredible determination during her recovery, she continues to question whether those around her are suffering because of what happened to her.

News of Dylan's attack only reinforces those fears. Despite having no involvement in the assault, Betsy becomes convinced that the violence is another consequence of the tensions that have surrounded her recovery. The thought that somebody may have targeted Dylan because of everything linked to her stroke will no doubt leave her devastated.

Those closest to Betsy quickly realise how deeply she has been affected. Lisa does everything she can to reassure her daughter that she is not to blame for another person's actions, while Dylan is equally determined to make sure she does not shoulder the burden alone.

Even from his hospital bed, Dylan makes it clear that Betsy must not blame herself. He knows she has already carried enough guilt and refuses to let her believe the attack happened because of her.

Unfortunately, accepting those reassurances proves far easier said than done. Betsy continues to replay recent events in her mind, questioning whether life would have been different if she had never suffered the stroke.
