Boomer Faces Revenge Threat as New Wentworth Drama Reveals Deadly Twist

Susan ‘Boomer’ Jenkins might finally be out of Wentworth Prison, but her past is about to catch up with her in a dangerous new chapter of the Australian drama.

New details about Wentworth: Halfway Home, which will be shown in the UK as Wentworth: Beyond Bars, reveal that Boomer's hopes of rebuilding her life are threatened by a suspicious death and someone determined to make her pay for a decision she made behind bars.

Boomer's Past Comes Back to Haunt Her

Katrina Milosevic returns as Boomer, who has been granted parole after years in prison and is determined to regain custody of her daughter, Joey.

She moves into the Sally Lee Halfway House, where former prisoners are trying to adjust to life on the outside while dealing with their complicated pasts.

However, when one of the residents is found dead, suspicion falls on Boomer, threatening the freedom she has worked so hard to secure.

There is another problem waiting for her. Someone Boomer informed on to secure a reduction in her sentence has also been released from prison and is determined to take revenge.

With her future and relationship with her daughter at stake, Boomer must work out who she can trust before she finds herself back behind bars.

Familiar Faces Return Alongside a Growing Cast

Nicole da Silva reprises her role as Franky Doyle, while Kate Box returns as Lou Kelly, reuniting three recognisable characters from the original series.

The expanding cast includes Rachel Griffiths as Moira, Sophie Lowe as Sam, Alex King as Dee and Chenile Chandler as Lily.

Nine additional actors have also been confirmed, including Nadine Garner, Elaine Crombie, Grace Chow, Sara West, Claude Jabbour, Daniel Henshall, Laura Gordon, Thom Green and Chika Ikogwe.

While the original Wentworth explored power struggles and survival inside a women's prison, the new drama moves those conflicts into the outside world, where the former inmates have more freedom but also far more to lose.

When Will Wentworth Beyond Bars Air in the UK?

British viewers will be able to watch the new series exclusively on 5 later in 2026, although an exact premiere date has not yet been announced.

The drama retains the title Wentworth: Halfway Home in Australia, where it is scheduled to premiere on BINGE and Foxtel.

The continuation arrives five years after the original Wentworth concluded in October 2021, bringing back established characters while introducing a new generation of residents whose secrets could prove just as dangerous as those left behind in prison.
