Summer Bay is preparing for the worst on Home and Away this week, as the community gathers for a vigil in Roo's honour while Alf waits to learn whether the body found in her burnt-out car is his daughter.
Roo's Disappearance Leaves Alf Desperate for Answers
Roo (Georgie Parker) has spent months away from the Bay helping her mum Martha in Merimbula, and was last seen at home in June.
When she failed to return as planned, Alf (Ray Meagher) grew increasingly anxious, and his fears deepened when Sergeant David Langham (Jeremy Lindsay Taylor) made a horrifying discovery: a body inside Roo's burnt-out car.
We covered how the disappearance unfolded in our report on Roo going missing.
Summer Bay Comes Together for Roo
The body has yet to be formally identified, and while David waits for the forensic report, the whole town is left in limbo. Remi (Adam Rowland) enlists help to set up a vigil for Roo, and the community turns out to support Alf that evening.
The following morning he joins friends including Marilyn (Emily Symons) and Leah (Ada Nicodemou) to lay flowers at the spot where the car was found.
For Alf, the waiting is agonising. He wants a definite answer on whether the body is Roo's so that he can begin planning a funeral for his daughter.
New Clues in the Search for Roo
Meanwhile, the investigation picks up a new thread when a passing stranger tells police he saw Roo talking to a male hitchhiker. Viewers are also shown an unsettling glimpse of a man wrapping a hammer with dried blood on it in newspaper, a moment that raises fresh questions about what really happened on Roo's journey home.
How to Watch Home and Away
Nothing about Roo's fate has been confirmed on screen, and the coming episodes will reveal whether Alf's worst fears are realised or whether the mystery has further to run.
Home and Away airs on Channel Seven and 7plus in Australia, with UK viewers following behind, on Channel 5.
