That means viewers will have to wait until Thursday for the next developments in Weatherfield and the Dales - and there is plenty waiting for them when both soaps return.

Is Emmerdale on tonight?
No. Emmerdale is not scheduled to air on Wednesday 12 August.
The soap returns on Thursday 13 August, when several ongoing storylines move forward.
Dawn becomes increasingly excited as Billy begins putting their escape plan into action.

Elsewhere, Kev tries to rebuild his relationship with his absent father Lewis. After discovering that Lewis cannot ride a bike, Kev offers to teach him.
April also encourages her struggling boyfriend Dylan to consider counselling.

What happened before the Coronation Street break?
Tuesday’s episode leaves several stories hanging ahead of Thursday’s return.
Tim and Sally are stunned to be told by DS Lisa Connor-Swain that Richie has been charged with Rachel’s murder, although Richie claims that he acted in self-defence.

Kit is devastated after Sarah ends their relationship. He drinks heavily before Jodie approaches him and offers to buy him a pizza.

At the same time, Idris’s jealousy causes more trouble when he approaches Alya’s potential restaurant buyer, Gavin.
And things aren’t going to get any quieter later in the week.
On Friday 14 August, Sarah becomes alarmed when fellow inmate Kacey reveals that the other prisoners know her former partner is a police officer. Kacey promises to protect Sarah after she is threatened.
What’s next in Emmerdale?
Thursday’s return is only the beginning.
On Friday 14 August, Dawn tells Billy that Joe’s stag do could provide the perfect opportunity for them to escape and invites him to stay at Home Farm beforehand.
Kev’s attempt to teach Lewis to ride ends with the pair crashing, but Lewis later confides something personal while they cloud-watch together.
Ruby also asks Kev to carry out a shady job, while Dylan appreciates further advice from Bear.

It follows Monday’s drama, when Charity desperately tried to stop Sarah discovering that baby Leyla is not biologically hers and that Jacob is the child’s biological father.
Then on Tuesday, Billy revealed his escape plan to Caleb and asked him to help Billy and Dawn leave the village with the children.
