Wentworth Beyond Bars New Pictures Build Excitement Ahead of UK Return

Excitement is building for the return of Wentworth, with new pictures offering another glimpse of the Australian drama ahead of its highly anticipated comeback on Channel 5.

The new series, titled Wentworth: Beyond Bars in the UK, is expected to premiere before the end of 2026, although Channel 5 has yet to confirm an exact broadcast date.

Five years after the original drama ended, viewers are preparing to reunite with some of its best-known characters as the story moves beyond the prison gates.

Familiar faces return to Wentworth

Katrina Milosevic is back as Susan ‘Boomer’ Jenkins, alongside Nicole da Silva as Franky Doyle and Kate Box as Lou Kelly.

Boomer has finally secured parole and is determined to build a future with her daughter. However, life at the Sally Lee Halfway House soon becomes complicated when a resident is found dead and someone from her past seeks revenge.

The returning trio are joined by a substantial new cast, including Rachel Griffiths, Sophie Lowe, Nadine Garner and Elaine Crombie.

Unlike the original series, which largely followed life inside a women’s prison, the continuation explores what happens when former inmates attempt to rebuild their lives on the outside.

When is Wentworth Beyond Bars coming to Channel 5?

Channel 5 has secured exclusive UK broadcasting rights, with the series scheduled to arrive before the end of 2026. An exact premiere date and transmission schedule are still to be confirmed.

Australian audiences will see the same production under the title Wentworth: Halfway Home on BINGE and Foxtel.

In the meantime, UK viewers can revisit all eight seasons of the original Wentworth Prison through Channel 5’s free streaming service, 5.
