OpenAI rolls GPT-6 out to every ChatGPT user with new 'Intelligent UI'
Since 7 and 8 October, GPT-6 is in every ChatGPT tier, and answers can include interactive charts, buttons, forms and mini-tools instead of plain text.
OpenAI has brought GPT-6 to every ChatGPT tier, alongside a new feature that lets the chatbot answer with interactive charts, buttons, forms and mini-tools instead of plain text.
The rollout began globally on Wednesday 7 October 2026 for ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users in the Chat tab. Free and Go users began receiving it from Thursday 8 October, on both web and mobile.
Paid tiers run on GPT-6 Sol, while the Free and Go tiers use GPT-6 Luna. OpenAI says both models have been tuned for everyday conversation, and that more than 1.2 billion people now use ChatGPT every week. ChatGPT's voice mode already runs on GPT-6 models.
The headline feature, called Intelligent UI, lets GPT-6 decide how to build each answer from a mix of text, visuals and interactive elements, depending on the question. OpenAI's examples include a diagram explaining how an aeroplane wing creates lift, guides to bicycle mechanics, maps for multi-day hiking trips and a personal savings calculator.
OpenAI product manager Aarush Selvan told TechCrunch that ChatGPT has mostly been a text-based interface, but that the most helpful answers are often not just text. Users who prefer a simpler experience can turn the visuals down, and ChatGPT can still reply in plain text when that works best.
During training, OpenAI says it judged the interfaces GPT-6 builds on clarity, usefulness and completeness, though it admits the model's design judgement still needs work.
OpenAI says GPT-6 Instant starts answering web-search questions 44% sooner than its predecessor, GPT-5.6 Instant, because it can begin responding while it is still thinking. The company also says GPT-6 is better at resisting attempts to bypass its safety training, particularly attacks that adapt over several turns.
There are limits. The Pro reasoning option still uses GPT-6 Astra and does not support Intelligent UI, and the models behind ChatGPT's Work and Codex modes are unchanged.
