In her new role, Cheers will help develop television programmes and support creative talent across Lime Pictures, which is based in Liverpool and produces shows for broadcasters and streaming platforms.
She is particularly interested in creating entertaining dramas featuring strong characters, authentic regional voices and stories rooted in the North West.
Speaking about her promotion, Cheers said: "I want to make unapologetically popular television, full of humanity, that makes you feel joy and desperate to share it with your friends."
