MIRROR9 The Hollowing brings AI-generated superheroes to the screen
MIRROR9: The Hollowing is an AI-assisted superhero feature from Higginswerx and Mirrorize. Discover its story, creators and interactive AI characters.
An independent superhero film created using AI video technology is exploring how generative tools can be used to build a fictional world, develop characters and bring an original story to the screen.
MIRROR9: The Hollowing was announced by Higginswerx and Mirrorize on 15 October 2026. The creators describe it as a superhero action comedy combining science fiction and suspense, with an unconventional team attempting to save their city.
The project also extends beyond the film itself through AI characters that audiences can interact with online, offering an additional way to explore its fictional world.
What is MIRROR9: The Hollowing about?
The story follows a group of misfit heroes who must work together to recover thousands of stolen hearts before it is too late.
Their mission is guided by Halo, an artificial intelligence system created by Mirrorize. The team members have different abilities and personalities, making coordination difficult as they attempt to complete their task.
The project also features Red Halo, another AI character associated with the film’s wider fictional universe.
Rather than concentrating exclusively on the superhero narrative, the creators are developing an online presence around these characters. Character cards introduce the team’s members, while the Mirrorize website offers visitors the opportunity to interact with Halo and Red Halo.
That creates a connection between the film and interactive AI entertainment, allowing audiences to explore aspects of the fictional world outside the screen.
Who made the film?
Brett Higgins directed, modelled and edited the project, while Cherie Higgins wrote the screenplay.
The production team says it used AI video pipelines to help create its superhero world, combining generative technology with human-led writing and direction.
AI-assisted filmmaking can involve generating visual material, developing environments, refining shots and assembling sequences during post-production. However, the exact workflow differs between projects, and the creators’ announcement does not establish every tool used to produce MIRROR9.
That distinction matters as AI-generated entertainment develops. Knowing that a production uses AI is only the beginning; understanding where the technology was used, how the filmmakers shaped the results and what human creative work contributed gives audiences a clearer picture of the finished project.
