Home and Away's Marilyn finally gets Zane's letter but his message is heartbreaking

Marilyn Chambers has been trying to remain positive, but a letter from Zane brings difficult news in Home and Away.

After initially keeping the message from her, Alf Stewart finally hands it over, leaving Marilyn to face Zane's decision for herself.

Mali Hudson visits Zane in prison and discovers that he is doing reasonably well and has started working in the library. Zane gives Mali a letter intended for Marilyn, but Mali is unsure whether delivering it is the right thing to do. He discusses the situation with Tane Parata, who advises him against passing it on, before Mali seeks Alf's opinion.

Alf initially keeps the letter because Marilyn has been feeling positive and he worries that its contents could upset her. However, when Marilyn says she wants to write to Zane herself, Alf admits that he has the message and gives it to her.

Zane thanks Marilyn for the help she has given him, but says he believes prison is where he belongs. He also says he will not write again and hopes she can move on.

The message is painful for Marilyn because it makes clear that Zane does not intend to continue writing to her.

Although he acknowledges her kindness, his decision leaves her facing the possibility that their correspondence has come to an end.
