Home and Away: Jared asks David the one question he cannot ignore

David reaches an important stage in his recovery in upcoming Home and Away scenes as a counselling session forces him to confront emotions he has spent weeks trying to keep under control.

The latest chapter begins after David's difficult conversation with Amelia at Salt. Hoping to put an end to the rumours surrounding their friendship, David meets with her to reassure her that there is nothing for anyone to gossip about. Instead, the conversation takes an unexpected turn when Amelia asks whether it would really be so terrible if she had developed feelings for him.

Caught completely off guard, David struggles to respond. Rather than giving Amelia the reassurance or clarity she is searching for, David falls silent. His hesitation leaves Amelia feeling rejected, prompting her to walk away believing she has made a terrible mistake by revealing how she feels.

The encounter leaves David with more questions than answers. Although he continues insisting to those around him that Amelia has only ever been his doctor, it becomes increasingly obvious that the situation is affecting him far more deeply than he wants to admit. Unable to process everything on his own, David arranges an urgent meeting with his counsellor, Jared.

During the session, David explains exactly what has happened. He reveals that Amelia admitted having romantic feelings for him and also confesses that Jo, Lacey and Justin all appeared to recognise what was happening before he did. Realising those closest to him had noticed the growing connection leaves David wondering whether he has been avoiding the truth himself.

Jared listens carefully before asking a question that stops David in his tracks. Rather than focusing on Amelia's feelings, Jared asks David to forget everyone else's opinions and think honestly about his own. He wants David to answer one simple question, but only after giving it careful thought. Does he have feelings for Amelia as well?

The question represents another important step in David's recovery. Throughout his counselling journey, David has worked to process the grief of losing Kristina while slowly rebuilding his confidence and looking towards the future. Jared understands that avoiding difficult emotions will only delay that progress, making honesty the most important part of the healing process.

Instead of bottling everything up, David chooses to speak openly about his confusion with someone he trusts. That decision allows him to examine his emotions in a safe environment without pressure or judgement.

Whether David ultimately decides his feelings for Amelia are romantic or purely platonic remains to be seen. For now, Jared has given him something to think about that can no longer be ignored. The answer may not come immediately, but it could prove to be one of the most significant decisions David has faced since beginning his recovery.
