Home and Away: David gets encouraging return to work update as Jo clashes with Amelia

David receives a major boost in upcoming Home and Away scenes as he moves a step closer to returning to work, but the good news is overshadowed by growing tension between Jo and Amelia.

After weeks of concern surrounding David’s recovery, he decides the time has come to attend an important hospital appointment with his surgeon. While he remains optimistic about the outcome, Jo isn’t convinced he is ready to return to duty and worries her dad may be rushing the process.

As the pair prepare for the appointment, David chooses to focus on the positives. Keeping his recent concerns about Amelia to himself, he tells Jo he is hopeful the surgeon will finally give him the medical clearance he has been waiting for.

Jo, however, struggles to hide her reservations. Believing David should take more time to recover before throwing himself back into work, she encourages him to reconsider, but David refuses to change his mind.

Once they arrive at the hospital, David decides to confront another issue that has been weighing heavily on his mind. Wanting answers about Amelia’s recent behaviour, he asks to speak with her privately and questions whether he has done something wrong.

Amelia remains composed throughout the conversation, despite clearly finding the situation difficult. Determined to keep her emotions under control, she insists David has done nothing wrong and explains that their doctor patient relationship has simply come to an end. Although her words are professional, it is obvious she is hiding how she really feels.

Respecting Amelia’s response, David heads into his appointment while Jo takes matters into her own hands. Concerned her father is returning to work too soon, she approaches Amelia in private and asks her to speak with the surgeon in the hope of delaying David’s medical clearance.

Jo believes Amelia is in the best position to intervene, but Amelia refuses to become involved. Sticking firmly to professional boundaries, she declines Jo’s request despite knowing it will leave her disappointed.

The decision only adds to Jo’s growing frustration. From her perspective, Amelia appears unwilling to support David at a time when he needs help the most, while Amelia believes interfering would be completely inappropriate.

Following the appointment, David returns with encouraging news. He reveals the surgeon has given him physical medical clearance, marking another important milestone in his recovery, although he still needs to complete the psychological stage before he can fully return to work.

While David is delighted with the progress, Jo cannot let go of what happened earlier. She responds with a sarcastic remark aimed directly at Amelia, thanking her for all of her “help” before making her feelings crystal clear.

The tension continues later when Jo vents to Leah about Amelia’s refusal to get involved. Concerned there may be more going on beneath the surface, Leah decides to check in with Amelia and see how she is coping.

However, after an emotionally draining day, Amelia reaches breaking point. Clearly overwhelmed by everything that has happened, she snaps at Leah and tells her that both David and his recovery are none of her business before storming out of the Diner.

Leah is left stunned by the outburst, unaware of the emotional battle Amelia has been fighting behind closed doors. Although Amelia has worked hard to keep her true feelings hidden, her reaction suggests the strain is becoming increasingly difficult to manage.

With David now one step closer to returning to work and Amelia continuing to distance herself despite her obvious inner conflict, the situation looks set to become even more complicated in the days ahead. Jo’s determination to protect her father has only widened the divide, leaving relationships under growing pressure as emotions continue to build.
