Home and Away: Could Sonny lose Remi for good after shocking betrayal?

Sonny’s friendship with Remi could be pushed beyond repair in upcoming Home and Away scenes as his steroid addiction drives him into a devastating betrayal. After trying to make peace with his closest friend, Sonny secretly steals Remi’s credit card and risks losing one of the few people who still cares about him.

The pair have already endured growing tension as Sonny’s behaviour has become harder to understand. Remi has seen his friend becoming increasingly secretive and unreliable, but he still agrees to meet him at Salt when Sonny reaches out with an apology.

At first, the conversation appears to offer genuine hope that they can repair their damaged bond. Sonny acknowledges the strain between them, while Remi gives him another opportunity to explain himself and start putting matters right.

That hopeful moment is destroyed when Remi briefly leaves the table and accidentally leaves his wallet behind. Sonny spots the credit card and makes the terrible decision to take it, despite having just asked Remi for forgiveness.

The theft comes after Beau refuses to supply Sonny with more steroids without immediate payment. Rather than accepting that he cannot afford them, Sonny becomes focused on finding money by any means available and turns against the person who has repeatedly tried to support him.

Sonny’s decision is particularly cruel because Remi believes they are rebuilding trust. While Remi is giving him another chance, Sonny is quietly taking advantage of that kindness and planning to use his money behind his back.

The storyline leaves their friendship facing its most serious test so far. Remi may have forgiven arguments and poor decisions in the past, but stealing from him while pretending to apologise could be far more difficult to move beyond.

There is also the question of what happens when the card is used. Remi may initially believe he has misplaced it, but suspicious transactions could quickly reveal that someone has taken it and force him to examine who had access to his wallet.

Sonny could attempt to deny any involvement, although every lie would deepen the betrayal and make a future reconciliation less likely. If Beau becomes connected to the payments, the discovery could also expose the steroid supply arrangement that Sonny has been desperate to hide.

Remi’s reaction is likely to be shaped by more than the missing money. He may feel humiliated by the realisation that Sonny used their reconciliation as an opportunity to steal from him, particularly after he chose to listen and give his friend another chance.

The discovery could finally convince Remi that Sonny cannot be trusted while his addiction remains untreated. He may decide that continuing to protect him is only allowing the destructive behaviour to continue, forcing him to step away despite knowing that Sonny needs help.

Sonny’s actions do not necessarily mean he has stopped caring about Remi, but they show how completely his priorities have been distorted. His need for more steroids has become stronger than his loyalty, his judgement and his fear of hurting the people around him.

That makes the eventual fallout even more painful because Sonny may only understand what he has lost once the truth is exposed. By then, an apology may no longer be enough to repair the damage or convince Remi that their friendship is worth another chance.

The storyline could ultimately become the moment that forces Sonny to confront his addiction. Losing Remi would leave him more isolated than ever, but it could also remove the illusion that he can continue behaving this way without facing serious consequences.

Whether Remi cuts Sonny out of his life or reluctantly helps him seek support remains to be seen. What is clear is that the stolen credit card has placed their friendship in real danger, and Sonny may soon discover that some betrayals cannot be easily forgiven.
