Hollyoaks James Nightingale mystery deepens after year away
Hollyoaks raises fresh questions over James as Ste becomes suspicious of his former partner and his unexplained year away comes back into focus.
James finds himself under increasing scrutiny in Hollyoaks as Ste begins questioning whether his former partner could know more about the circumstances surrounding Rex’s death.
Ste is already struggling with his grief as the village gathers for Rex’s memorial, but his attention soon shifts back towards the unanswered questions surrounding his husband’s murder. Although Martin has admitted that he was paid to kill Rex, Ste is far from convinced that he has heard the complete story.
James then gives Ste another reason to feel uneasy when he is discovered hanging around his home. Ste immediately kicks him out, with the encounter only adding to his concerns about why James has suddenly reappeared in his life.
There is also the lingering question of exactly what James was doing during his lengthy absence from the village. With significant gaps still surrounding that period of his life, Ste begins to wonder whether there could be more to uncover.
Rather than leaving the investigation to others, Ste starts looking for answers himself. Leah joins him and begins searching online for information about Martin, with father and daughter hoping they might uncover something that explains why Rex was targeted and who was really behind his death.
At the same time, James appears focused on rebuilding his relationship with Ste. He later turns up at the house carrying flowers in an attempt to win him over, but the gesture comes as Ste’s doubts about him are growing rather than fading.
James may be hoping for another chance with Ste, yet the timing could hardly be more complicated. Rex’s death is still painfully recent, while Ste is increasingly determined to question anything that does not add up.
With James’ unexplained absence now potentially taking on new importance and Ste refusing to stop looking for answers, his return could leave viewers with even more questions about what has really been happening behind the scenes.
