Gay Oktoberfest Meets the Danube as BearCruise Heads Across Europe
Gay Oktoberfest meets a seven-night Danube cruise as BearCruise heads from Munich to Vienna and Budapest, with some cabins nearly sold out.
A gay Oktoberfest experience in Munich followed by seven nights cruising the Danube is preparing to take travellers across some of Central Europe’s biggest destinations, with only limited availability remaining for several cabin categories.
BearCruise’s 2026 journey combines an optional three-night Munich stay from 19 to 22 September with an exclusively LGBTQ+ river cruise aboard Bellejour from 22 to 29 September. The main sailing begins with guests travelling from Munich to Passau before continuing through Austria, the Czech Republic and Hungary.
Munich’s Gay Oktobearfest starts the adventure
Travellers wanting the full experience can add BearCruise’s optional Munich Gay Oktobearfest programme before joining the ship. The three-night extension includes Munich during Oktoberfest as well as a visit to Neuschwanstein and Oberammergau.
The Oktoberfest visit itself is scheduled for 21 September, giving guests a full day experiencing Munich’s world-famous celebration. The following day, travellers taking part in the extension continue towards Passau, where Bellejour is waiting for the start of the Danube cruise.
The Munich extension is sold separately from the main cruise. Current prices published by the organisers are $2,099 per person based on double occupancy or $3,199 for single occupancy, plus $199 per person in taxes and fees.
The Danube cruise takes travellers across four countries
The main seven-night journey begins on 22 September, with guests embarking Bellejour in Passau. From there, the itinerary moves towards Linz in Austria, which serves as the docking point for excursions into neighbouring destinations.
One of the first major stops is Český Krumlov in the Czech Republic, where guests are taken into the UNESCO-listed historic town and its famous castle. Bellejour remains docked in Linz before another major day out takes travellers towards Salzburg.
The Salzburg visit includes a journey aboard the Majestic Imperator train and a Sound of Music themed experience. Guests are due to visit locations associated with the film before returning to Linz aboard the luxury train.
The cruise then travels through Austria’s Wachau Valley towards Vienna. Guests have two days connected to the Austrian capital, including opportunities to explore its architecture, Schönbrunn Palace and its LGBT nightlife.
Vienna is followed by Budapest, where Bellejour spends the closing section of the trip. Planned experiences include sightseeing around the Hungarian capital, Széchenyi Baths and an onboard Drag Bingo event featuring local drag entertainers before guests disembark on 29 September.
What is included onboard?
The seven-night cruise includes accommodation aboard Bellejour, meals from embarkation lunch through to breakfast on the final morning and unlimited beverages including house wines, beers, spirits, alcohol-free drinks, speciality coffees, soft drinks and juices.
Six guided excursions are also included alongside onboard LGBTQ+ entertainment, Wi-Fi, airport transfers at designated points and a dedicated cruise management team. Airfare is not included, while some optional activities and personal expenses cost extra.
Prices currently begin at $2,999 per person based on double occupancy for a Category F cabin, with taxes and port fees of $399 per guest. Single occupancy rates are also available, although they are considerably higher.
Several cabin categories are nearly gone
Availability is already tight so close to departure. Category A is currently sold out, Category B has only three cabins remaining and Category C has two, while Category D is listed as having limited availability.
Categories E and F are still listed for sale at the time of writing. Anyone considering the trip should check directly with BearCruise before booking flights or other travel because cabin availability, pricing and the order of ports and excursions can change.
BearCruise also caters heavily to people travelling on their own. The company says around one quarter of guests on a typical BearCruise sailing are solo travellers and operates a programme designed to help solo guests connect with others before travelling.
Where to follow BearCruise
The latest itinerary, prices and booking information can be found through the official BearCruise website, which also links directly to the dedicated Oktobearfest and Danube booking pages.
BearCruise can also be followed on Instagram and Threads at @bearcruisevacations, on X at @bearcruise and through its official BearCruising Facebook page. The company also runs a BearCruise Sailors Facebook group for travellers who want to connect with other guests.
With Oktoberfest, Český Krumlov, Salzburg, the Wachau Valley, Vienna and Budapest packed into one European trip, this is far more than a conventional river cruise.
With departure now approaching and several cabin categories down to their final spaces, anyone tempted by BearCruise’s European adventure will need to check the latest availability directly before making plans.
