Emmerdale Sadie targets Caleb in risky plan for Joe

Sadie King takes another dangerous step in Emmerdale when Joe Tate recruits her to spy on Ruby and Caleb Miligan. What begins as an attempt to gather information soon puts Sadie much closer to the couple than she expected.

Joe is determined to find evidence he can use against the Miligans and sees Sadie as a possible way into their lives. Sadie is unsure about getting involved at first, but her own desperation eventually wins and she agrees to help him.

Her first move centres on Ruby. Sadie opens up about being in a controlling relationship, winning Ruby's sympathy and creating an opportunity to get closer to her.

The plan appears to give Sadie exactly the opening she needs, but things become more complicated when Vanessa accidentally lets something slip. Sadie immediately realises the information could be important and begins pressing her for more details.

Caleb then becomes her next target. Sadie tries to get him alone and moves towards seducing him as she attempts to uncover something Joe can use, although the task proves much harder than she expected.

The storyline places Sadie directly between Joe and the Miligans, with every conversation carrying the risk that Ruby or Caleb could realise she is working against them. Joe's objective is clear as he wants evidence that could help him bring the couple down.

Sadie's methods are becoming increasingly risky as she attempts to deliver what Joe wants. With Vanessa already providing an unexpected lead and Ruby apparently taken in by Sadie's story, the spying operation is gathering momentum.

The bigger question is whether Sadie can continue getting closer to Caleb without exposing her real intentions. One mistake could leave both Ruby and Caleb asking exactly why she has suddenly taken such an interest in them.

Emmerdale airs on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX. Viewers can also catch up with recent episodes through the streaming service.
