EastEnders Peter and Lauren Face Heartbreak as Mark Affair Threatens Their Marriage
EastEnders star Thomas Law hints at heartbreak for Peter and Lauren as her affair with Mark threatens their marriage.
Peter and Lauren's marriage faces another serious test in EastEnders, with Lauren's affair with Mark threatening their future together. Actor Thomas Law has warned that more deceit and heartbreak lie ahead, raising questions about whether Peter could forgive another betrayal.
Speaking to the Mirror at the Pride of Britain Awards, Law suggested the couple face a difficult period, although he stopped short of revealing exactly what happens next.
Peter and Lauren's Troubled History
Peter and Lauren have known each other since childhood, sharing years of family tragedies, arguments and reconciliations. Peter lost his twin sister Lucy when she was murdered, while Lauren's father Max was wrongly accused of the crime.
Their relationship has also been strained by disagreements over their children and Lauren's previous involvement with Zack, which was exposed at his wedding to Whitney. Despite everything, Peter has repeatedly tried to keep their family together.
Law believes family loyalty remains central to Peter's decisions, suggesting his feelings for Lauren could make another betrayal particularly painful.
Mark's Affair Puts Their Marriage at Risk
Lauren's relationship with Mark has developed into an affair following weeks of tension at home. If Peter discovers the truth, the consequences could extend beyond their marriage and affect other members of their families.
An earlier flashforward episode set in 2027 offered a possible clue about their future. Peter and Lauren appeared distant, with Peter refusing to attend Max's wedding, although Lauren still referred to him as her husband.
The episode also introduced Mark, initially credited simply as 'Man', before his identity was revealed.
We've previously explored the possible fallout in our feature asking whether Mark and Lauren's affair could destroy their lives.
Can Peter Forgive Lauren Again?
Law suggested Peter's commitment to Lauren remains strong, but acknowledged that he may have to reconsider their future if things go wrong. The actor also highlighted the couple's shared humour and the importance of family to Peter.
With Lauren keeping another major secret, their marriage faces renewed uncertainty. Peter's response when the truth emerges could determine whether the couple have a future together.
EastEnders continues on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
