EastEnders reveals Denise’s secret half-brother as two new Fox-Trueman characters arrive

EastEnders is expanding one of Walford’s best-known families as Christopher Colquhoun and Krystina Frempong join the cast as Darnell Larson Jr. and his daughter Grace.

The newcomers are set to become part of the Fox-Trueman story after Kim makes a shocking discovery about Denise’s family. What she uncovers leads the family towards a relative Denise never knew existed, opening up a completely new branch of the Fox-Truemans at an already emotional time for Denise.

Darnell Larson Jr. is Denise Fox’s half-brother, with Christopher Colquhoun taking on the role. Viewers may recognise Christopher from Absentia and Fleabag, but his arrival in Walford will place him firmly at the heart of one of EastEnders’ established families.

After Kim uncovers Darnell’s existence, the family reaches out and eventually comes face-to-face with him. They then discover Darnell has a daughter, Grace, played by Krystina Frempong, whose previous credits include Too Much and Essex Girls.

Their introduction is far from straightforward. What initially begins as an unexpected family reunion takes on greater significance for Darnell when he learns about Denise’s cancer diagnosis.

Denise is already facing an incredibly difficult period, meaning the sudden discovery that she has a half-brother could bring another major emotional element to her story.

Christopher Colquhoun has shared his excitement about joining the soap, saying:

“I am thrilled to be finally moving to Walford after all these years, and the welcome I’ve received has been phenomenal. Hearing I’d got the role was an absolute doof doof moment for me… hopefully there’ll be plenty more of those to come!”

Krystina Frempong is equally excited about becoming part of the EastEnders cast. She said:

“I am extremely excited to be joining EastEnders! I have watched the show for as long as I can remember and have such vivid memories of gathering around the TV with my family, especially at Christmas, to watch all the drama unfolding on the Square, so it feels pretty surreal to now be a part of the action!”

She continued:

“I’m really looking forward to working with, and learning from my new colleagues, whom I’ve long admired, and hope audiences enjoy getting to know Grace and all the complexities she’ll bring to their screens!”

Executive Producer Ben Wadey has confirmed that Kim’s discovery will uncover a new branch of the Fox-Trueman family, giving EastEnders the opportunity to explore more of their wider family network while introducing Darnell and Grace as two new faces in Walford.

Their arrivals also raise plenty of possibilities beyond the initial reunion. Grace is a completely new character with strong links to an established family, while Darnell’s relationship with Denise will begin under extraordinary circumstances as he discovers what his half-sister has been going through.

Christopher Colquhoun and Krystina Frempong will make their EastEnders debuts later this summer, with Kim’s discovery setting in motion a major new chapter for Denise and the wider Fox-Trueman family.
