Could Craig’s Death Be Behind Max’s Arrest in EastEnders?

Could Amy’s secret about Craig’s death eventually become connected to Max’s mysterious arrest in EastEnders?

The New Year flashforward has already shown Max facing armed police, but viewers have yet to discover what leads to his arrest. Now, following Craig’s death and Amy’s decision to conceal the circumstances, there is another possible explanation worth considering.

Amy struck Craig with a candlestick while defending herself against his violent attack. Thursday’s episode confirmed his death, but when police questioned Amy, she did not disclose that she had hit him.

That leaves a significant part of the story unexplained to investigators.

Could suspicion fall on Max?

Max has already become involved in Amy’s disappearance through his handling of her inheritance, creating tension within the Branning family.

Jack was furious about the money being released, while Amy’s secret bank account became an important part of the investigation into her whereabouts.

However, there is currently no confirmed evidence linking Max to Craig’s death, and nothing in Thursday’s episode established that he would become a suspect.

The theory instead raises a question about what could happen if police uncover information that Amy has withheld.

Could Max’s financial involvement attract further scrutiny, or might the circumstances surrounding Craig’s death become connected to the New Year arrest in another way?

What do viewers already know?

The flashforward establishes that Max faces a dramatic confrontation with armed police, but the reason for his arrest remains a mystery.

His relationship with Jack is already strained, while his growing involvement in Linda’s family has created further disagreements.

Thursday’s episode saw Nancy challenge Max over his interference, while Lauren attempted to offer him advice. Max nevertheless remained determined to establish a place in Linda’s life.

These developments provide several possible directions for his storyline, meaning Craig’s death is far from the only explanation for what happens at New Year.

Amy’s account could become increasingly important as police investigate, but there is no confirmation that Max will be drawn into the case.

Could the two mysteries eventually collide, or is Max heading towards an entirely different confrontation?

EastEnders airs on BBC One, Freeview channel 1, usually at 7.30pm, with episodes available on BBC iPlayer.
