Coronation Street viewers found plenty of humour in Sally’s frightening Halloween ordeal, this week, with jokes about her decision to watch a horror film, an unexpected power cut and the possibility of a ghostly visitor.

Already feeling unsettled by recent events involving Lucy, Sally hardly helped matters by settling down to watch something frightening while alone at home. Viewers were quick to notice the irony, particularly when the lights went out.

One fan joked: “Sally’s been given a fright. So naturally she decided to watch a horror film.”

Another was equally amused by her decision, commenting: “Sally being so frightened that she gets Carla & Lisa to come round for reassurance just to continue watching a horror film in the dark whilst (pretty much) home alone…”

The power cut prompted another viewer to make a nostalgic joke about the programme’s earlier years.

“When I said I wanted Corrie to be more like it was in the seventies, I didn’t mean the power cuts.”

With Sally already fearing that Mick could be responsible for the strange events, viewers began imagining how the situation might become even more frightening.

One contributor joked: “Nah but imagine if Mick really was terrorising Sal with a smiley face ghost sheet on lol”.

Another spotted an amusing detail involving Sally and Carla, writing: “Sally’s so obsessed with Carla she’s even copied her ringtone 🤣”.

The Halloween celebrations also prompted some light-hearted observations about Weatherfield’s impressive costumes and make-up.

One viewer commented: “One of the things that will never not amuse me for the Halloween episode is how the whole street suddenly becomes a MUA”.

Although Sally’s predicament provided some entertaining moments, Lucy’s behaviour continues to cause concern, with further difficulties potentially awaiting Sally and Tim.

For viewers, the mixture of suspense, familiar characters and unexpected humour made Sally’s Halloween scenes a brilliant talking point.

Coronation Street continues on ITV1 and ITVX.
