Coronation Street: Kit's phone evidence could rewrite Sarah's entire defence
Fresh phone evidence leaves Kit convinced Sarah's actions after Theo's death were influenced by Gary, but will it be enough to change her future?
Sarah's future could take an unexpected turn in upcoming Coronation Street scenes after Kit uncovers phone evidence that he believes changes the way the case should be viewed.
Rather than concentrating solely on the events that led to Theo's death, Kit turns his attention to what happened afterwards. He becomes convinced that Sarah's actions in the aftermath were shaped by Gary, who allegedly stepped in to help cover up what had happened instead of encouraging her to report it immediately.
That distinction becomes the centre of Kit's investigation because he believes it could have a significant impact on Sarah's defence.
If he can demonstrate that Sarah's decisions were influenced by somebody else, her legal team may be able to argue that she was not acting independently in the crucial hours after Theo's death. From Kit's perspective, that could make the difference between a harsher sentence and a more lenient outcome.
To support that theory, Kit begins analysing phone data from the night in question. The records appear to reveal information that strengthens his suspicions, convincing him he is finally building a clearer picture of what happened. While the evidence may not tell the whole story on its own, Kit believes it forms an important part of the wider investigation.
The detective also shares his findings with Bethany, explaining why he believes Gary's actions played such a significant role in Sarah's situation. Bethany is desperate to see her mum receive the best possible outcome, but learning about Gary's alleged involvement leaves her facing difficult questions about someone she has trusted.
Meanwhile, Gary begins to sense that the investigation is gathering momentum.
When Kit asks him to meet, Gary immediately realises something has changed. Kit makes it clear he has uncovered an important new lead, although he keeps the exact details to himself, leaving Gary to wonder just how much the detective has managed to piece together.
The uncertainty creates as much pressure as the evidence itself.
Gary knows that every fresh discovery increases the risk of the truth emerging, while Kit remains convinced he is getting closer to proving exactly how events unfolded after Theo's death. Even without making immediate accusations, Kit's confidence suggests he believes the investigation is moving firmly in his favour.
Whether the phone evidence ultimately proves enough to support Kit's theory remains to be seen. What is already clear, however, is that the investigation is no longer focused solely on Sarah's actions. It is now examining the decisions made by everyone around her, with Gary finding himself at the centre of a case that could soon take another dramatic turn.
