Coronation Street Betsy humiliated during lunch with Lauren

Betsy Swain is set for an uncomfortable afternoon in upcoming Coronation Street scenes when a lunch with Lauren Bolton ends in embarrassment.

Lauren decides Betsy needs getting out of the house and firmly tells her that she is taking her for lunch. The pair head to the bistro, where Lauren appears determined to keep an eye on Betsy and offer some support.

Things quickly become awkward when Betsy knocks some cutlery from the table. Lauren immediately goes to help her, but Debbie Webster misreads the situation and makes a joke suggesting Betsy is drunk.

The comment leaves Betsy mortified. It comes after Lauren had already made an effort to reach out to Betsy earlier, suggesting to Ollie Driscoll that they visit her and take some of his cake. That first visit appears to open the door to Lauren spending more time with Betsy, with the lunch showing she is not prepared to simply leave her struggling alone.

For Betsy, however, the outing does not go smoothly. What should have been a simple chance to get out and spend time with Lauren instead leaves her feeling exposed in front of other people.

Lauren’s response is very different. Rather than laughing off what happens, she quickly moves to help Betsy when the cutlery falls, showing that she is paying close attention to how she is coping.

The scenes place Lauren and Betsy back together after a difficult period between them and suggest Lauren is making a real effort to reconnect.

Whether Betsy welcomes that support remains to be seen, but Lauren clearly has no intention of backing away easily. With Betsy already vulnerable, her decision to step in could prove important as their relationship begins to shift again.
