AI Song Made With Suno Breaks Into South Korea’s Top 100

A song made using Suno has broken into one of South Korea’s biggest music charts, reaching a level that can prove difficult even for established K-pop acts.

Forest of the Heart, from Korean music project Joseon HipHop, reached No. 89 on Melon’s Top 100 after initially being created for an AI music video competition. It also reached No. 99 on Melon’s daily chart.

The breakthrough is particularly notable because this isn’t an AI character pretending to be a human singer. There is a real creator behind the project who is open about exactly where artificial intelligence enters the process.

How was the song made with Suno?

The creator behind Joseon HipHop wrote the lyrics before giving prompts to Suno, which generated the composition and vocals for Forest of the Heart.

More recent Joseon HipHop productions use a more hybrid process. The creator says Suno now accounts for around 30 to 40% of the work, helping create the main melody before humans handle elements including instruments, beats, arrangement and mastering.

Joseon HipHop itself is a relatively new project. Its creator previously worked in the restaurant industry and began learning about AI while looking for ways to promote a café. After discovering generative music technology, the Joseon HipHop YouTube channel was launched in January 2026.

It has grown quickly. Current tracking puts the channel at around 180,000 subscribers and more than 66 million views, while its music is also available internationally through services including Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube Music.

AI music is reaching mainstream listeners

The audience behind Forest of the Heart is also unexpected. Listeners in their 40s accounted for 38% of its Melon audience, compared with 33% in their 30s and 11% in their 20s.

Other Joseon HipHop tracks have subsequently appeared on Melon’s Hot 100, suggesting the success hasn’t been limited to one song. The creator is now also working towards a remake of Forest of the Heart featuring a human singer.

For Suno, the chart position provides something more tangible than another AI music demonstration. A song made using the technology has attracted enough genuine listeners to compete on a major national streaming chart.
