Home and Away is bringing Jimmy Fowler back into Eden’s life as her battle with aplastic anaemia becomes increasingly serious. His unexpected arrival reunites the Fowler family during one of its most frightening periods, but there is a complicated history behind Jimmy’s relationship with his children, particularly Eden.

For viewers who do not remember his previous appearances, Jimmy has been at the heart of some of the Fowler family’s biggest divisions. His actions years before the family arrived in Summer Bay help explain Eden’s estrangement from both her father and her brother Levi.

Who is Jimmy Fowler in Home and Away?

James “Jimmy” Fowler is the father of Eden, Levi and Abigail Fowler and the ex-husband of their mother, Debra. The Fowler family was torn apart when Jimmy had an affair while his children were younger.

Following the breakdown of his marriage, Levi went to live with his father while Eden remained with Debra. Eden blamed Jimmy for destroying their family and also resented Levi for choosing to live with him, contributing to a long estrangement between the siblings.

Why has Jimmy returned to Home and Away?

Coming up in UK scenes, Jimmy returns as Eden continues dealing with aplastic anaemia, a rare and potentially life-threatening condition in which the bone marrow fails to produce enough new blood cells. Eden needs a stem cell transplant, but finding a suitable donor is proving difficult.

Levi is struggling under the pressure of supporting his family while being unable to give them the answers they desperately want about Eden’s future. Mackenzie realises how much pressure he is under and secretly contacts Jimmy, asking whether he can come to Summer Bay.

Levi is surprised when his dad arrives, although he admits he is pleased to see him, while Abigail is also delighted by Jimmy’s return. The biggest question, however, is how Eden will react to seeing the father she spent so many years wanting nothing to do with.

When Cash tells Eden that Jimmy is in town, she pleads for the opportunity to see him. The family eventually arrange an outdoor gathering near the surf club so Eden can meet her dad while maintaining the precautions required because of her condition.

When did Jimmy first appear in Home and Away?

Jimmy made his first appearance in 2024 when he travelled to Summer Bay looking for Levi after discovering that his son’s marriage to Imogen had ended. His first Australian episode aired on July 18, 2024, before the scenes reached UK viewers on September 3.

His arrival unexpectedly brought him face-to-face with Eden after years of estrangement. Eden initially blamed Levi for bringing their father back into her life, but after discovering that her brother had not arranged the visit, she eventually agreed to spend some time with Jimmy.

Their reunion proved overwhelming for Eden, who broke down and asked her father to leave Summer Bay. Jimmy respected her wishes, meaning their first attempt at reconnecting ended with the huge emotional distance between them still unresolved.

Did Eden forgive Jimmy?

Jimmy returned in 2025 after Eden invited him to Summer Bay while trying to decide whether she could cope with having him at her wedding to Cash. His return did not suddenly repair their relationship, and the pair were forced to confront some of the damage caused by their years apart.

Jimmy acknowledged that he should have fought harder to remain in Eden and Abigail’s lives, while Eden admitted that she still did not know how to stop being angry with him. Their relationship had clearly moved forward from the outright rejection of his first appearance, but the programme did not simply erase the hurt between them.

Jimmy later attended Eden and Cash’s wedding alongside Debra, showing that he had begun to find a place within the Fowler family again. His latest return now takes that reconciliation into very different territory as Eden faces a serious illness and actively asks to have her father beside her.

Who plays Jimmy Fowler in Home and Away?

Jimmy is played by New Zealand actor Aaron Jeffery, who will already be familiar to many viewers of Australian television. Jeffery is particularly well known for playing Alex Ryan in McLeod’s Daughters and later starred as corrections officer Matthew “Fletch” Fletcher in Wentworth.

His television career also includes appearances in Neighbours, Underbelly, Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries and Netflix thriller Pieces of Her, while his film credits include X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Jeffery first joined Home and Away as Jimmy in 2024 and has continued to return as the programme has expanded the Fowler family story.

Jimmy’s latest appearance therefore carries considerably more history than a straightforward family visit. Eden once struggled even to be in the same place as her father, but her decision to ask to see him during her illness shows how far their relationship has come.
