Who is Indigo Kamal-Poole? Meet Hollyoaks newcomer Xander and the actor behind him

Hollyoaks is welcoming another new face to the village as Indigo Kamal-Poole takes on the role of mysterious newcomer Xander. While plenty about Xander is still being kept under wraps, Indigo already has an interesting collection of acting and filmmaking work behind him.

Xander arrives with a connection to an existing Hollyoaks resident, immediately creating questions about exactly what has brought him to the village. His opening storyline will also put him in the orbit of some familiar faces, including Cindy, Beth and Warren.

Who is Hollyoaks newcomer Xander?

Xander enters Hollyoaks as a mystery man whose connection to another resident has yet to be revealed. His arrival becomes tangled up with Cindy and Beth, giving viewers an immediate mystery as the newcomer begins to establish himself in the village.

Warren is also among the established characters connected with Xander’s early appearances, suggesting the newcomer will quickly find himself crossing paths with several major Hollyoaks residents. Exactly how these characters are connected remains to be seen, leaving plenty still to be revealed once Xander arrives on screen.

Who is Indigo Kamal-Poole?

Indigo is an actor, writer and filmmaker who already has experience both in front of and behind the camera. Hollyoaks marks an important new television role for him and is likely to introduce his work to a much wider audience.

His previous acting credits include Green Jumper, Orion and Ctrl A.I. Delete. Another project, Clay People, has also appeared among his upcoming work as his screen career continues to develop.

Before his Hollyoaks casting was revealed, Indigo’s agency had already announced that he had secured a role appearing across several episodes of a popular television series. His arrival as Xander now represents the latest step in a career that has already seen him explore several different areas of filmmaking.

Indigo wrote and directed Green Jumper

One of Indigo’s most notable projects so far is the 2025 short film Green Jumper. Indigo wrote and directed the film while also appearing on screen in the role of Finn.

The story follows three young men before, during and after rehabilitation, exploring addiction and the effect it can have on young people’s lives. The film also looks at male relationships, masculinity and mental health, giving Indigo the opportunity to work with challenging subject matter both as a filmmaker and performer.

From independent filmmaking to Hollyoaks

Joining Hollyoaks gives Indigo the opportunity to move from independent projects into one of Britain’s established continuing dramas. It also places Xander alongside some of the show’s longest running and most recognisable characters from the beginning of his story.

There are still several unanswered questions surrounding Xander, particularly the identity of the resident he is connected to and exactly why he has arrived. With Cindy, Beth and Warren already linked to his early appearances, viewers may not have to wait long before the newcomer begins making his presence felt.

For Indigo, the role adds another major credit to a career that has already included acting, writing and directing. For Hollyoaks viewers, Xander brings a fresh mystery to the village and a new character whose full story is still waiting to unfold.
