Troye Sivan’s She’s the Best explores the loneliness beneath the pop star’s party lifestyle

Troye Sivan has released a new music video for ‘FF’, describing it as the gayest of his career while pairing its sensual imagery with a song about longing for a man he has not yet met.

The video arrived on 9 October 2026 alongside Sivan’s fourth studio album, She’s the Best. Directed by Gordon von Steiner and filmed on Fire Island, the visual moves between beachside scenery and intimate interiors, creating a hazy portrait of attraction, anticipation and desire.

Sivan teased the video ahead of its release, making clear that he intended to embrace its openly gay imagery. The result puts male intimacy at the centre of the visual, but the song’s emotional premise is more introspective than its confident presentation might initially suggest.

Rather than documenting an established relationship, ‘FF’ imagines a future connection and explores the loneliness of wanting someone who has not yet arrived.

A love song about someone who does not exist in his life yet

The title ‘FF’ stands for ‘Fucking Forever’, a phrase that sounds like a declaration of permanent commitment. However, Sivan has explained that the song is really about wishing for a relationship with a man he has yet to meet, rather than making a promise to an existing partner.

That distinction gives the track its emotional tension. The narrator is already imagining the depth of a future love, even though the person at the centre of those feelings remains unknown.

Sivan described the song as an expression of longing and the loneliness of loving someone who is not there yet. Its central idea is both intensely personal and widely relatable: the desire to find a lasting connection can be powerful even before there is a particular person to share it with.

The video translates that anticipation into physical imagery, allowing the visual atmosphere to communicate attraction while the song explores the uncertainty beneath it.

A more introspective side of She’s the Best

The album moves between the energy of nightlife and the quieter feelings that can surface when the excitement fades. Sivan has described the record as reflecting both the highs of recent years and the solitude that existed underneath them.

‘FF’ sits firmly on the introspective side of that contrast. Its sensual presentation is balanced by a lyric concept built around waiting, imagination and the hope that a future relationship will become real.

Fire Island also gives the video a meaningful setting. The destination has a long history as a gathering place for gay men and LGBTQ+ communities, making it an apt backdrop for a visual centred on gay desire and the possibility of connection.

Sivan’s description of the video has given the release a bold headline, but the track’s central idea reaches beyond provocation. ‘FF’ is about wanting to be loved, imagining a future with someone and confronting the loneliness that can exist before that relationship begins.
