Provincetown Women’s Week 2026 Brings 300+ LGBTQ+ Events to Cape Cod

More than 300 events are heading to one of America’s best known LGBTQ+ seaside destinations this October as Provincetown Women’s Week returns to Cape Cod.

Running from October 12 to 18, with additional events beginning from October 9, Women’s Week fills Provincetown with comedy, live music, theatre, art, authors, parties and community events.

Judy Gold, Melissa Ferrick, Cris Williamson, Suzanne Westenhoefer, Vickie Shaw and BETTY are among the names currently appearing on the 2026 programme, but this is much more than an entertainment festival. The location is a major part of the attraction.

Where exactly is Provincetown?

Provincetown is a small seaside town in Massachusetts on the east coast of the United States. It sits right at the tip of Cape Cod, the distinctive curved peninsula that stretches out into the Atlantic Ocean from Massachusetts.

Often known simply as Ptown, it is around 120 miles by road from Boston, making the Massachusetts capital the most practical gateway for travellers arriving from the UK.

Despite being a relatively small town, Provincetown has become one of the most famous LGBTQ+ destinations in the United States. It also has a long history as an artists’ colony and seaside escape.

Commercial Street runs through the heart of town, lined with restaurants, galleries, shops, bars and entertainment venues, while the surrounding Cape Cod National Seashore brings beaches, sand dunes and dramatic Atlantic coastline.

That means Women’s Week can easily become part of a much bigger New England holiday rather than simply a week spent moving between events.

What happens during Women’s Week?

The sheer size of the programme means visitors can build completely different trips depending on what interests them.

More than 300 events are planned across Provincetown, ranging from comedy and concerts to theatre, literary events, art, dances and social gatherings.

There is no expectation that visitors attend everything. A day could involve exploring Provincetown or the Cape Cod coastline before heading into town for dinner, a comedy show and an evening event.

That combination of entertainment, community and an actual holiday destination is what makes Women’s Week particularly interesting for couples, groups of friends and women travelling alone.

How do you get there from the UK?

For most UK visitors, the easiest starting point is a flight to Boston.

From Boston, travellers can drive to Provincetown in roughly two and a half hours. Cape Air also operates a short flight between Boston and Provincetown, with its current schedule covering the dates of Women’s Week.

Another option is to make the journey part of the holiday itself. Spending a few nights exploring Boston before heading along Cape Cod would turn Women’s Week into a longer Massachusetts trip, with Provincetown waiting at the very end of the peninsula.

For LGBTQ+ women looking beyond the traditional Pride weekend, it is a particularly interesting alternative. Women’s Week supplies hundreds of events, but Provincetown’s LGBTQ+ culture, beaches, galleries, food and unmistakable New England setting provide plenty of reasons to travel across the Atlantic in the first place.
