Océane Terrettaz wants to explore burnout and social media pressure through AI storytelling

Océane Terrettaz is looking at some of the pressures shaping everyday life as inspiration for future AI-created stories, with burnout and the influence of social media among the subjects she wants to explore next.

While love, relationships and human connection remain important parts of her work, Océane has made it clear that she does not want to limit herself to one type of story. Instead, she is interested in emotional and social issues that people can recognise from their own experiences.

“I have ideas around burnout, the pressure and influence of social media, compassion, human connection and other emotional or social issues that are part of everyday life.”

That opens up a much wider space for her storytelling. Burnout, for example, can develop quietly through pressure, exhaustion and the feeling that there is always more to do, while social media can bring its own expectations around appearance, success, relationships and the way people present their lives to others.

Those subjects also fit naturally with Océane’s interest in emotion-led storytelling. Rather than treating AI as the story itself, she uses it as a way of visualising situations and feelings that already exist in the real world.

A future story about social media pressure could explore comparison, isolation or the gap between what people show online and what they are actually experiencing. Burnout could be approached through work, relationships or the simple feeling of being overwhelmed, while compassion and human connection offer opportunities for warmer and more hopeful stories.

That variety is important to Océane because she does not want her work to become predictable. She has already spoken about continuing to create stories involving love, relationships and animals, while also moving into wider subjects connected to modern life.

The result could be a body of work that shifts between romance, social issues and personal emotion without losing the same central focus: creating something that feels relatable.

There is also something interesting about using AI to explore subjects that are deeply human. The technology may be new, but burnout, loneliness, pressure and the need for connection are not. That contrast gives Océane room to use modern tools while still telling stories grounded in familiar experiences.

As her future projects develop, these themes could become some of her most thought-provoking work yet, particularly if she continues to approach them through character and emotion rather than simply using them as visual concepts.
