MCM Comic Con London is back at ExCeL London this weekend, firmly establishing itself as one of the most welcoming dates in the capital's pop culture calendar for LGBTQ+ fans.

Running from Friday, October 23 through Sunday, October 25, the event has filled the Docklands venue with cosplayers, comic artists, gamers, and fandom communities.

Event manager Charlotte Napier shared that the convention is designed to be a safe space where people can fully express themselves away from the "real world." Emphasizing a strong focus on community and LGBTQ+ representation, organizers have worked to ensure inclusivity remains at the heart of the weekend.

Celebrating Drag and Live Performance

Drag has become a central pillar of the convention's welcoming environment. A dedicated drag zone was recently introduced to give fans daytime access to performers and their merchandise, bypassing the need to attend late-night shows or brunches.

This builds on a history of appearances from popular Drag Race UK talent, including Blu Hydrangea and Choriza May at previous events.

Another highlight for attendees is the Fringe Stage, a platform dedicated to up-and-coming acts, talented fans, and live entertainment.

Blending live music, comedy, and interactive performances such as the Doctor Who-inspired Gallifrey Cabaret—the stage continues to be a vibrant corner of the show.

Napier noted that fostering this level of representation provides an important space for fans to see themselves reflected in the event's guests and programming. For many visitors, the ultimate appeal lies in experiencing a weekend where elaborate costumes, fandom friendships, and queer identities are celebrated without judgment.
