LGBTQ+ sports groups offered grants of up to £50,000 in new UK fund
LGBTQ+ sports and activity groups across the UK can apply for grants of up to £50,000 from a new £400,000 Get Active Fund.
LGBTQ+ sports clubs and community groups across the UK have a new opportunity to grow, launch fresh activities and bring more people into sport, with grants of up to £50,000 now available. A new £400,000 Get Active Fund has opened to back grassroots organisations creating welcoming ways for LGBTQ+ people to get moving and take part.
The programme is being delivered by the LGBT+ Fund, powered by Consortium, in partnership with London Marathon Foundation. Applications opened on 9 September and will remain open until midday on 4 November 2026.
Who is eligible?

The fund is open to eligible LGBTQ+ led non-profit groups and organisations across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Although much of the online promotion has come through organisations in Scotland, the funding itself is UK-wide.
Applicants should already have experience of delivering sport or physical activity, either as a dedicated LGBTQ+ sports organisation or as a wider LGBTQ+ organisation running relevant activities. Groups, organisations or projects generally need to have been operating for at least six months.
The fund is particularly interested in supporting communities and areas that have historically received less funding, including rural and remote locations. It also wants to reach groups supporting LGBTQ+ women, older people, disabled and neurodivergent people, people of faith, people from the global majority, and trans, non-binary and intersex communities.
How much can groups apply for?

Organisations can apply for between £5,000 and £25,000 for projects lasting one year. Projects running across two years can apply for between £10,000 and £50,000 in total.
The fund is not limited to traditional competitive sport either. Eligible activity can include a wider range of ways of getting people moving, with official guidance highlighting activities such as football, hiking, dance, skateboarding, gardening, frisbee, ballroom and vogue.
What can the funding cover?

The money can be used towards the direct costs of delivering activities, including venue hire, equipment, volunteer expenses and measures designed to make participation more accessible. Coaching qualifications and training can also be supported where they form part of the project.
Some salaries, administration, rent, utilities and other running costs may also be eligible where they directly contribute to the work being funded. This gives smaller grassroots organisations more flexibility than a scheme restricted purely to equipment or one-off events.
How to apply and find out more
Applications are being accepted online through the official LGBT+ Fund Get Active Fund page. Organisations are asked to complete an eligibility check and read the full funding guidance before starting their application.

For LGBTQ+ sports clubs and community organisations looking to grow existing activities or launch something new, the £400,000 programme creates a significant new opportunity. With awards of up to £50,000 available, groups across the whole of the UK have several weeks remaining to put forward their plans.
