Jodie’s Coronation Street Plan Gets Darker but What Does She Really Want?
What does Jodie really want from Shona in Coronation Street? Her disturbing behaviour leaves huge questions over David, Harper and her ultimate plan.
Jodie Ramsey has become almost impossible to escape in Coronation Street. Since arriving during Corriedale, where she was first seen tied up in the back of a van belonging to returning Emmerdale character Graham Foster.
This lead to months of fan speculation about why she was held hostage, and it was later explained that she stole from an ex-partner, and Graham had been contracted to track her down.

Since then she has featured very heavily in the Platts’ story, but months later viewers are still waiting for the biggest answer of all: what does she actually want?
Corrie is clearly playing a long game with Jodie, gradually revealing more about her difficult history with Shona while Doug’s return has added another layer to a story that still feels far from finished. Meanwhile, Jodie’s behaviour around Shona, David and baby Harper is becoming increasingly disturbing.
What is Jodie doing to Shona?
Jodie appears determined to make Shona look incapable while simultaneously making herself useful to David.
The bath incident provided perhaps the clearest example yet of how the two sides of her behaviour work together.
After Jodie secretly interfered with Harper’s bath water and left it dangerously hot, David burned his hand when he tested it.

His actions potentially prevented Harper from being seriously injured, before Jodie conveniently stepped in to bandage David’s hand and care for him after secretly creating the situation herself.

Her latest scheme appears even more calculated.
After Gemma discussed how hearing her four babies crying could leave her feeling as though she was going mad, Jodie quickly disappeared and was subsequently seen recording Harper crying.

Shona has since heard Harper crying when her daughter is actually fine, leaving her frightened and questioning what she is experiencing.
The sequence appears to show Jodie taking something Gemma told her and finding a way to use it against her sister.
Does Jodie want Shona’s life?

That is becoming increasingly difficult for viewers to ignore, although Coronation Street has not yet revealed Jodie’s endgame.
Is this revenge for their troubled past, does she want everyone to believe Shona is unwell, or does she resent the family life her sister has built?
Jodie repeatedly creates situations in which Shona appears unable to cope, while placing herself in a position where she can support David afterwards.
Her behaviour around Harper makes the situation even more concerning, particularly now one of her schemes has already risked causing the baby serious harm.
What does Jodie really want?

For all the time Jodie has spent at the centre of recent episodes, Corrie is still keeping that crucial answer from viewers.
Her story stretches back to Corriedale, while Doug’s return means there are still questions surrounding the sisters’ past and exactly what has driven Jodie to target Shona.
What has become much clearer is how far Jodie is prepared to go.

She is not simply causing arguments between Shona and David, but deliberately making her sister question herself while getting increasingly close to the family around her.
That leaves Corrie with one huge mystery still hanging over the Platts. Viewers know what Jodie is doing to Shona, but discovering why she is doing it and what she ultimately wants could be the biggest revelation of all.
Coronation Street is available on ITVX, with episodes also airing on ITV1.
