Is Mick alive in EastEnders as fans spot fresh clues?
Is Mick alive in EastEnders? Fans hope for a Mick and Linda reunion as Nancy, Lee and Janine return around Linda’s exit.
Could EastEnders really be preparing to reveal that Mick survived after all as Linda heads towards her final scenes?
Mick has been presumed dead since disappearing at sea at Christmas 2022, but his body was never recovered. Now Linda is leaving Walford, Nancy and Lee are back, Janine is returning and Mick is once again at the centre of fan speculation.
Fans want Mick and Linda reunited
The timing has revived a theory that has followed Mick ever since his disappearance, but plenty of viewers are actively hoping it turns out to be true.
Following the announcement of Linda’s exit, one fan immediately asked: “Do you think Danny Dyer will make an appearance for her exit?” Another was considerably more enthusiastic about a reunion, declaring: “If she doesn’t reunite with Mick we riot.”
A third fan backed the same ending, replying: “Facts. Let them go off into the sunset together.”
Elsewhere, another viewer argued that EastEnders should bring Mick back specifically to give the couple the ending they never received, saying there was “no way they don't bring Mick back and give them a happy ending.”
There is no confirmation that Danny Dyer is returning. Mick continues to be treated as dead within the programme, meaning any suggestion that he survived remains speculation.

Could Mick appear after his own funeral?
The biggest complication is the apparent funeral storyline involving Linda and Janine.
Nancy and Lee’s returns have added to the expectation that the Carter family could be gathering to finally say goodbye to Mick. One viewer said they were “really happy” about the returning Carters and hoped the storyline would not be as predictable as it first appeared.
Other fans think the funeral itself might provide the surprise.
One theory suggests a funeral could take place before Mick unexpectedly appears alive afterwards, while another imagines Mick having survived with memory loss and Linda eventually discovering him.
There is no evidence yet that either scenario will happen. However, Mick’s original disappearance left EastEnders with one crucial detail that has never been resolved because his body was never found.
Could Linda finally get her happy ending?

That is why Linda’s departure has made the Mick question much bigger again.
Kellie Bright is leaving after more than a decade playing Linda, while several characters central to her history are returning around the same period. For viewers who have followed Mick and Linda since the Carters arrived in Walford, a reunion would offer an unusually hopeful ending after years of tragedy.
One fan discussing possible endings said they believed Linda would ultimately receive “the happy ending that people have been begging for.” Another said they were choosing to believe a positive departure theory simply because “it's nicer than the alternatives!”

EastEnders could still be assembling the Carter family solely to give Mick a definitive funeral and Linda some long-awaited closure.
But until the programme finally establishes exactly what happened in the sea that night, viewers have one reason to keep hoping for another outcome:
Mick Carter was never actually seen dead.
EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
