Is EastEnders making Harry too obvious as Ethan’s dad?

EastEnders keeps giving viewers reasons to believe Harry could be baby Ethan’s biological father, but some fans now think the clues are becoming so obvious that they could actually be deliberate misdirection.

Penny still does not have a genuine DNA result establishing whether Vinny or Harry is Ethan’s biological father. The result previously shown to Nicola was faked, leaving the truth unresolved.

Did Harry settling Ethan really prove anything?

Recently Eastenders delivered another apparent hint when Harry managed to settle Ethan while Penny was struggling with him.

The moment appeared designed to make Penny uncomfortable, but fans immediately questioned whether EastEnders was pushing Harry so strongly because the eventual answer could actually be different.

One viewer said: “I really hope it’s a red herring and he is the baby’s dad,” referring to Vinny.

Another fan also remains firmly on Vinny’s side, saying: “I still hope there will be a twist and he’s Vinny’s in the end.” A third simply added: “I hope Ethan is Vinny’s.”

Could Vinny still be Ethan’s father?

Harry remains an obvious possibility and Penny’s uncertainty about the timing of her pregnancy is the reason the paternity question exists at all.

What EastEnders has deliberately avoided giving viewers, however, is a genuine DNA test.

Is EastEnders confirming what viewers already suspect, or is Harry being made deliberately obvious because the real answer is still to come?

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
