Home and Away’s Tane Set to Leave Summer Bay After Seven Years in Emotional Exit

Home and Away favourite Tane is preparing to leave Summer Bay after seven years, with an emotional new trailer revealing his decision to walk away from the town he has called home.

The character, played by Ethan Browne, has faced a difficult time following the departure of his young son Archie, who moved away with his mother Harper

Now, after struggling with the distance separating him from his son, Tane appears ready to make a major change to his life.

Watch the trailer:

Tane makes a difficult decision

The trailer shows Alf questioning Tane about his plans, asking: “You’re leaving the bay?”

Tane responds: “Maybe it’s time.”

The exchange suggests that Tane has reached a turning point after months of family difficulties.

His separation from Archie has become increasingly painful, with visits requiring lengthy journeys away from Summer Bay.

Harper previously left the town following her abusive relationship with Beau, taking Archie with her to start a new chapter.

Although Tane has continued visiting his son, the arrangement has placed considerable emotional strain on him.

The trailer also shows Tane performing a taiaha sequence, reflecting his connection to his Māori heritage as he prepares for a possible farewell.

Is Tane leaving Home and Away permanently?

Although the upcoming storyline confirms Tane’s departure from Summer Bay, it does not appear to be a permanent exit for Ethan Browne.

The actor has subsequently been spotted filming at the show’s Palm Beach location, including scenes featuring Tane alongside Archie.

This suggests the character will return to the programme following his departure, although the circumstances of his return remain part of the unfolding storyline.

Tane has been a major part of Home and Away since joining the soap in 2020, with storylines involving his family, relationships and role within the Summer Bay community.

These developments are from Australian-pace Home and Away episodes and have not yet aired in the UK. British broadcasts are behind Australia, so viewers watching on 5 will see Tane’s departure at a later stage.

Home and Away is available to stream on 5 in the UK, with episodes also airing on 5Star.
