Home and Away’s Lacey panics as feelings for Dylan grow

Lacey is not expecting to find herself falling for anyone when she meets Dylan, but their immediate spark leaves her facing feelings she is not sure she is ready to handle in Home and Away.

Dylan arrives in Summer Bay to visit his younger brother Sonny, who has recently spent a day giving evidence against Beau in court. Sonny is pleased to see him, but their reunion soon reveals that both brothers have things they would rather keep hidden.

While Sonny teases Dylan about being the golden boy in their parents’ eyes, Dylan reacts badly. He eventually admits that his parents do not know he has left his supposedly perfect job in Western Australia. Tired of always being the responsible one, he wants Sonny to help him experience a more adventurous life.

As the brothers begin making plans for Dylan’s gap year, Lacey finds herself drawn to the newcomer. She comforts him after a clash with Sonny, and the pair quickly discover that they enjoy each other’s company.

Their connection grows when they walk home together after Dylan decides to take more risks. Lacey tells him that slow and steady has its merits, but when the moment comes for a possible kiss, she suddenly freezes and hurries away.

Back at home, Lacey struggles to explain her reaction to Jo and Amelia. She admits that she has not experienced feelings like these for a long time and panicked when she realised what was happening.

Her hesitation is not simply about Dylan. The memory of Theo, her last serious boyfriend, continues to complicate the prospect of starting something new. Jo worries that Lacey may not be ready for a relationship, while Amelia believes she should not automatically run away from a promising connection.

When Lacey and Dylan meet again, she reassures him that he has done nothing wrong. Their awkwardness fades as they laugh together, leaving the door open for something more.

However, Sonny becomes concerned when he sees Lacey upset. Knowing how deeply Theo’s death affected her, he warns Dylan to stay away from her, believing he is protecting his friend.

Dylan is left confused by the warning, especially when Lacey turns up at his door dressed for a date and asks him out herself.

Lacey has taken a step towards moving forward, but Sonny’s intervention threatens to complicate the connection she is finally brave enough to explore.
