Home and Away's Cash hits rock bottom as Eden faces devastating setback
Home and Away's Cash struggles as Eden's illness takes another worrying turn, with their marriage facing one of its most difficult challenges.
Cash is pushed to breaking point in Home and Away as Eden's health takes another frightening turn, leaving doctors increasingly concerned about how they can continue treating her.
Eden has been receiving blood transfusions for aplastic anaemia, but her condition deteriorates when she begins shivering and struggles to pour herself a glass of water. Cash rushes her to hospital, where Doctor Pope confirms she has suffered a serious reaction to her latest transfusion.
With treatment options becoming limited, the doctor suggests chelation therapy, although this comes with risks of its own. Eden wants Cash beside her before making a decision, but her husband is becoming overwhelmed by the prospect of losing her.
Desperate for answers, Cash leaves the hospital and returns home to contact Melanie, a woman he met through an online support group who has been living with the same condition as Eden.
However, he discovers a memorial notice revealing that Melanie has died. The news devastates Cash, who begins drinking whiskey and questions what hope Eden has if Melanie could not survive.
Remi arrives and attempts to persuade Cash to return to hospital, reminding him of his wedding vows. Instead, Cash becomes angry and orders him to leave.
Realising he needs help, Cash contacts Gary, who arrives to find him still drinking. Gary confronts him about abandoning Eden during such a frightening time and warns that if these are her final days, he cannot afford to waste them.
Meanwhile, Eden agrees to begin chelation therapy but becomes increasingly upset by Cash's absence. Believing he is avoiding her because he is frightened, she attempts to discharge herself so she can return home to him.
Before she can leave, Cash arrives with Gary and promises he will not abandon her again.
Eden admits she fears she has little time left, prompting Cash to ask what she wants to do with the rest of her life. Whatever she chooses, he promises to make it happen.
The difficult situation also creates tension between Gary and Remi, with Gary suggesting that Remi is not family and should keep his distance. Hurt by the remark, Remi later tells Tane that he would not know how Eden is doing because he is not family.
