Home and Away Zane Smashes Surf Club to Force Arrest
Home and Away sees Zane smash up the Surf Club and punch a police officer in a desperate attempt to force his own arrest.
Zane takes drastic action in Home and Away when his struggle to cope with life outside prison ends with him deliberately forcing the police to arrest him. His behaviour follows growing signs that freedom has left him feeling more lost rather than relieved.
Marilyn tries to encourage Zane to think about his future, including college courses and driving lessons, while Alf also suggests professional support.

Zane rejects the ideas, admitting that he does not believe counselling can change how he feels about himself and increasingly wondering whether he was better off in prison.
A conversation with Tane becomes particularly important when Zane learns that Tane has also been behind bars.
Zane admits that he misses the routine and structure prison gave him, while opportunities being offered outside only appear to make him feel more uncomfortable.

At his parole check-in, David gives Zane positive news that his conditions could eventually be relaxed if he continues doing well.

David warns that one wrong move could still send him back to prison, unknowingly giving Zane an idea.

Zane later thanks Mali, Alf and John for their kindness before grabbing a pool cue and smashing up the Juice Bar and board shop.
Tane and Mali restrain him, but David only gives Zane a caution when he refuses to explain himself.

Desperate to force the outcome he wants, Zane punches a police officer as he leaves.
David immediately arrests him, and Zane’s reaction says everything.

After struggling to find his place outside, he is relieved to have finally achieved his goal of being taken back into custody.
