Home and Away theory: Will David finally admit he has feelings for Amelia?

David has spent days insisting there is nothing romantic between him and Amelia, but an urgent counselling session could finally force him to confront what he has been trying to avoid.
The tension reaches a turning point after Amelia asks David how he would feel if she did have romantic feelings for him. Instead of giving her a clear answer, he falls silent, leaving Amelia hurt and convinced that she has been rejected.
David may believe his lack of response was simply shock, but Amelia is left to interpret it on her own. She walks away feeling exposed, while David is forced to consider why he found the question so difficult to answer.
His confusion becomes impossible to ignore when he arranges an urgent session with Jared. David explains that Amelia has revealed her feelings and admits that his daughters and friends appeared to understand the situation before he did.
Jared responds by asking the one question David has repeatedly avoided. Before answering, David is told to think carefully about whether he might feel the same way about Amelia.
That question could prove crucial because David's denial has never sounded entirely convincing. He has repeatedly described Amelia as nothing more than his doctor, yet their relationship has developed far beyond ordinary professional support.
Amelia has helped him access counselling, listened as he discussed his grief and continued checking on his wellbeing even when she tried to create distance. David has also trusted her with emotions that he has struggled to share with the people closest to him.
Their connection does not automatically mean David is ready for romance, especially while he is still grieving for Kristina. However, his reluctance to dismiss Amelia's question outright suggests that the answer may be more complicated than he wants to admit.
There is also the possibility that David is frightened by what moving forward might represent. Admitting feelings for Amelia could make him feel disloyal to Kristina, even though finding happiness again would not erase the life and love they shared.
His daughters may also be influencing his hesitation, because Jo and Lacey have already become involved in the situation. David could fear that beginning a new relationship would affect the family while they are all still adjusting to the loss they have endured.
Jared's role may therefore be less about pushing David towards Amelia and more about helping him separate grief from guilt. By asking David to examine his feelings honestly, he may help him understand that emotional recovery does not require him to remain alone forever.
