Home and Away Theory: Could Remi Be the One Who Brings Beau Down?
Remi takes action against Beau in Home and Away as he investigates Sonny’s secret and warns that he is prepared to involve the police.
Remi could be emerging as one of the biggest threats to Beau as his concerns about Sonny’s involvement in the illegal steroid operation intensify. Rather than ignoring what he knows, Remi starts looking for answers and ultimately warns Sonny that unless he fixes the situation, he will take matters to the police.
It puts Remi in a very different position from the other people around Beau. Harper remains unaware of the full story, while Beau is so focused on his jealousy over Remi that he fails to recognise the real reason he is asking questions.
Remi initially approaches Harper privately at Dana and Sonny’s engagement party. He wants to establish how much she knows about Beau and Sonny’s “gym buddy” friendship, but he has to tread carefully because Harper does not realise what is really happening.
Harper misinterprets Remi’s interest and believes jealousy may be motivating him. Beau also spots the pair talking and immediately becomes interested in their interaction, even questioning Lacey about Remi.
That misunderstanding could work against Beau. While he is preoccupied with the possibility that Remi is interested in Harper, Remi’s actual focus is on something potentially much more damaging: Beau’s connection to Sonny and the steroids.
Remi eventually turns his attention directly to Sonny. He is no longer prepared to watch the situation continue and gives Sonny a clear choice to sort out his involvement with Beau or risk Remi going to the police.
It is a significant escalation because Sonny is already struggling to cope with the secret. Dana speaks at their engagement celebration about how much she trusts him and how lucky she feels to be marrying her soulmate, leaving Sonny overwhelmed by guilt.
Dana later recognises that something is wrong and asks Sonny directly, but he still cannot bring himself to confess. Remi’s ultimatum therefore arrives when Sonny is already under mounting pressure to decide where his loyalties lie.
Could Remi ultimately become the person who exposes Beau? At this stage, that remains a theory. Remi has threatened to involve the police if Sonny fails to act, but these scenes do not establish exactly what he will do next.
What they do establish is that Remi is willing to intervene. He has started asking questions, knows Sonny is caught up in something serious and is prepared to escalate matters rather than simply accepting Sonny’s silence.
There is also an increasingly disturbing situation developing between Beau and Harper. Beau’s jealousy over Remi intensifies after seeing him talking privately with Harper, eventually contributing to a confrontation in which Beau backhands Harper across the face.
Remi does not approach Harper because he knows Beau will become violent towards her, and the supplied scenes do not establish that he is aware of the assault at this point. However, Beau’s treatment of Harper makes the possibility of his wider behaviour being exposed even more important.
Beau may believe Remi represents a threat to his relationship, but he could be concentrating on entirely the wrong danger. Remi’s interest is in what Beau and Sonny are doing, and his willingness to mention the police means the steroid operation is no longer safely hidden.
Whether Remi personally brings Beau down remains to be seen, but he has made one thing clear: Sonny cannot expect him to stay silent indefinitely. If Sonny fails to act, Remi could be the person who finally puts Beau directly in the sights of the police.
