Home and Away Remi moves in with Sonny after shock Tane decision
Home and Away’s Remi makes a huge loyalty decision when he leaves Tane’s home and moves in with Sonny as their friendship comes under strain.
Remi makes a major decision in Home and Away when he chooses to move out of Tane’s home and become Sonny’s new flatmate. The move follows Tane’s refusal to forgive Sonny and leaves Remi putting one friendship under pressure in order to support another.
Remi has already been standing by Sonny through the collapse of his relationship with Dana and the remaining effects of withdrawal. He knows Sonny is struggling with shame and fear, particularly because he has become so anxious about seeing Tane that he barely wants to leave the house.
When Remi asks Tane to cut Sonny some slack, the conversation goes nowhere. Tane insists that Sonny’s link to Beau helped create the chain of events that forced Harper and Archie away, and he has no sympathy for how badly Sonny is now feeling.
Sonny eventually tries to apologise directly, but Tane shuts him down. His refusal leaves Sonny worried that Remi could also lose an important friendship simply because he has chosen to keep supporting him.
Sonny tells Remi he wants things between him and Tane to end in a better place even if his own relationship with Tane never recovers. Remi does return to speak with Tane, but he arrives with a completely different agenda.
He thanks Tane for giving him somewhere to live before revealing that he is moving out. Remi has decided Sonny needs him more right now, so he will be moving into Sonny’s place instead.
The decision shows the depth of Remi’s loyalty without pretending Sonny did nothing wrong. He believes supporting someone through the consequences of their mistakes is different from excusing what they did.
For Sonny, having Remi around could be crucial as he tries to rebuild his life. He is working on his CV and attempting to think about employment again, but the rejection from Tane has shown how difficult returning to normal life may become.
Remi’s move gives Sonny someone firmly in his corner. Whether it damages Remi’s relationship with Tane, however, could become another consequence neither man originally expected.
