Home and Away: Remi Gives Sonny an Ultimatum Over Beau’s Drug Operation

Remi is no longer prepared to stand back and watch Sonny become more deeply involved with Beau’s illegal steroid operation. After quietly trying to establish what Harper knows about the pair’s connection, Remi confronts Sonny directly and gives him a stark ultimatum: sort the situation out or he will go to the police.

The pressure could hardly come at a worse moment for Sonny. He has only just become engaged to Dana, who speaks openly at their celebration about how much she trusts him, while Sonny knows he is hiding something that could seriously damage the future they are planning together.

Dana and Sonny’s engagement party initially gives their friends a reason to celebrate, but Sonny is already struggling with the weight of his secret. Dana delivers an emotional speech about feeling lucky to be marrying her soulmate and makes clear just how much faith she has in the man she intends to marry.

Rather than simply enjoying the moment, Sonny is paralysed by guilt. He cannot match Dana’s openness while knowing that she remains unaware of what he has been doing for Beau.

Remi, meanwhile, is determined to find out more. He takes Harper aside and questions her about Beau and Sonny’s “gym buddy” friendship, trying to establish whether she knows anything about what is really happening.

Harper does not understand Remi’s true motivation and instead believes his interest may be driven by jealousy. Beau also notices Remi speaking privately with Harper, but interprets their interaction as a possible romantic threat rather than realising Remi is looking into his activities.

Sonny’s problems become harder to avoid when Dana later confronts him herself. Once the pair are alone, she can tell something is troubling him and asks what is wrong.

It gives Sonny an opportunity to tell Dana the truth, but he cannot bring himself to do it. Instead, he avoids confessing what he has become involved in, leaving Dana without the explanation she deserves.

Remi is far less willing to accept Sonny’s silence. Knowing enough about the situation to understand the seriousness of what is happening, he confronts Sonny and makes his position clear.

Sonny needs to fix the situation with Beau. If he does not, Remi is prepared to take what he knows to the police.

The ultimatum leaves Sonny caught between two increasingly difficult pressures. Dana trusts him completely and believes they are beginning their future together, while Remi is now putting a limit on how long he is prepared to keep quiet.

It also means Beau’s operation is no longer a secret contained between the people directly involved. Remi knows enough to threaten police involvement, and he has already started asking Harper questions in an attempt to understand the wider situation.

Sonny therefore has a major decision to make. Continuing as he has been risks Remi following through on his warning, but telling Dana the truth could force Sonny to explain why he kept such a serious secret from her while agreeing to marry her.

For Remi, however, the situation appears increasingly clear. He has given Sonny the opportunity to put things right himself, but he is no longer prepared to watch from the sidelines indefinitely.

With the police now explicitly raised as the alternative, Sonny’s involvement with Beau has reached a dangerous new stage. He may have managed to keep Dana in the dark so far, but Remi has made sure he cannot simply continue pretending there is nothing to deal with.
