Home and Away: Mali Races for Help as Levi Runs Out of Time
Mali faces a desperate race in Home and Away as he searches for phone reception while Levi remains trapped and his condition continues to deteriorate.
Mali becomes a crucial part of the desperate attempt to save Levi as the climbing disaster leaves him trapped beneath a huge boulder. While Cash stays with the injured surgeon, Mali is forced to leave them behind and race through the bush in search of the phone signal that could bring rescuers to their location.
The pressure only intensifies when reception proves difficult to find and Mali’s battery continues to drain. With Levi drifting in and out of consciousness and his trapped hand deteriorating, every wasted minute leaves the group in an increasingly frightening position.
Mali helps Cash reach Levi
Levi slowly regains consciousness after the accident, but his arm remains pinned beneath the boulder and he is unable to free himself. Cash needs to reach him, with Mali helping him abseil down to where Levi is trapped.
Once Cash is safely alongside Levi, Mali lowers the remaining supplies to them. It means Cash can concentrate on keeping Levi conscious and assessing his condition, while Mali takes responsibility for finding a way to summon outside help.
That decision forces Mali to leave his friends behind without knowing when he will be able to return. With no reliable phone reception at the accident site, simply making an emergency call becomes a major challenge.
Mali’s phone battery begins running down
Mali heads off in search of reception, but his efforts initially get him nowhere. His phone cannot find a signal and the battery continues to drop, creating another problem when the group already has very few options available.
There is little Mali can do other than keep moving and hope he reaches somewhere with reception before his phone dies. Cash and Levi are depending on him to get help, making the falling battery particularly worrying.
Meanwhile, Levi’s condition continues to deteriorate. Cash discovers that his fingers are badly swollen and beginning to turn blue, while repeated attempts to move the boulder prove unsuccessful.
Cash and Levi are depending on Mali
Mali cannot see what is happening with Levi while he searches for reception, but the urgency of his task becomes increasingly clear. Without outside assistance, Cash is left trying to solve an extremely dangerous situation with limited equipment and an injured friend whose condition is worsening.
Levi eventually tells Cash that the boulder needs to be moved even if doing so breaks his arm. It is a drastic instruction that shows just how serious the situation has become while Mali remains their best hope of bringing professional rescuers to them.
The three men therefore have very different roles in the fight to get Levi out. Levi has to endure the pain and make decisions about his own treatment, Cash must stay beside him and attempt the physical rescue, while Mali has to keep going until he finds the signal they desperately need.
Will Mali find help before it is too late?
Back in Summer Bay, Mackenzie, Eden and Abigail return from their girls’ night without initially realising what has happened. As time passes without contact from the men, however, their concern begins to grow.
They have no idea that Mali is out searching for reception or that Levi remains trapped with Cash beside him. Their growing worry adds another layer to the emergency, with the people closest to the men unable to reach them or establish what has gone wrong.
Mali may not be the person physically trying to lift the boulder, but his role in the rescue could prove just as important. With his battery running down and Levi unable to wait indefinitely, finding a signal has become a desperate race that Mali cannot afford to lose.
