Home and Away: Levi Faces Heartbreaking Career Blow After Climbing Horror
Levi survives his terrifying Home and Away ordeal, but upcoming scenes reveal a devastating medical setback that could threaten his future as a surgeon.
Levi may have survived being trapped beneath a huge boulder, but the consequences of his ordeal could follow him long after he returns to Summer Bay. In scenes coming up, the surgeon receives worrying medical news about his injured hand, leaving the career he loves suddenly facing an uncertain future.
After Cash finally manages to free Levi and Mali successfully summons rescuers, attention turns to just how badly Levi has been hurt. Mackenzie, Eden and Abigail rush to the hospital after receiving news from Mali, desperate to discover whether Levi is going to be all right.
Cash is already struggling with what happened on the cliff and admits that he feels responsible for Levi’s injuries. Eden and Abigail support him, while Abigail warmly embraces Mali and thanks him for saving her brother after his desperate efforts to reach help.
Mackenzie’s relief at being reunited with Levi is mixed with anger over the circumstances surrounding his injuries. Levi, however, refuses to allow Cash to carry the blame and makes it clear that his friend faced an impossible choice.
Cash had been left trying to free Levi while his condition deteriorated, and Levi himself had instructed him to move the boulder regardless of whether doing so caused further injury. For Levi, the alternative was potentially far worse, and he makes sure Mackenzie understands that Cash did what was necessary.
The focus then turns to Levi’s medical results when Amelia arrives with an update. There is some encouraging news, with no fractures found in his hand or arm and no bleeding or swelling showing on his head CT.
However, the relief does not last.
The results raise serious concerns over whether Levi will regain full use of his hand. It is a devastating possibility for anyone to face, but for Levi the implications are particularly painful because his career depends on the precision and control required to perform surgery.
Levi is left explaining the reality to Mackenzie himself. If full function does not return, he may never be able to operate again.
The development transforms the climbing accident from a terrifying escape into a potentially life-altering turning point for Levi. He has spent years building his career as a surgeon, and suddenly he is facing uncertainty over whether he will ever be able to return to the operating theatre in the same capacity.
Mackenzie is now beside him as that reality begins to sink in. Her earlier anger towards Cash came from seeing the man she loves injured, but Levi’s determination to defend his friend shows that he knows exactly why Cash acted as he did.
There are still unanswered questions about the extent of Levi’s recovery, and the upcoming scenes do not establish that his surgical career is definitely over. What they do leave him facing is the frightening possibility that surviving the accident was only the beginning of a much longer battle.
For a man whose professional identity is so closely tied to his ability to operate, waiting to discover how much use he will regain in his hand could prove particularly difficult. Levi is safely back with Mackenzie, but his future now looks far less certain than it did before the climbing trip began.
