Home and Away: Lacey gives David permission to find love again

Lacey reaches an emotional turning point as she begins to accept that David may eventually find happiness with someone new. Her change of heart comes after a difficult conversation with Leah forces her to confront the fears she has been carrying since Kristina’s death.

The tension begins when Lacey admits she still cannot understand the idea of her father moving forward with Amelia. Although she knows David deserves happiness, the thought of him building a future with another woman feels like a threat to the memories their family shared with Kristina.

Leah tries to offer reassurance, but the conversation takes an unexpected turn when she accidentally reveals that she has already been speaking privately with Amelia. Lacey feels betrayed by the discovery and storms out of the Diner, convinced important conversations have been taking place behind her back.

Realising the damage she has caused, Leah follows her and apologises for not being honest sooner. She explains that her intention was never to exclude Lacey, but to support everyone involved while emotions remained fragile.

As Lacey begins to calm down, she admits that some of her expectations for David may be unfair. She knows she cannot decide how he should live the rest of his life, yet accepting that truth does not make the situation any less painful.

Leah then reveals that she previously warned Amelia not to become too close to David. The admission reassures Lacey that Leah has been trying to protect the family, but it also gives Leah the chance to explain why that position may no longer be realistic.

Moving forward does not mean David has forgotten Kristina or the life they shared together. Leah gently reminds Lacey that a new relationship would never erase the memories, love and history that will always remain part of their family.

Those words encourage Lacey to look at the situation from her father’s perspective. Instead of focusing only on what she might lose, she begins to consider how lonely David could become if he spends the rest of his life denying himself the chance to be happy.

When Lacey returns home, she decides to speak honestly with David. She tells him he should choose whatever makes him happy, even if that eventually means exploring a relationship with Amelia.

David is deeply grateful for her support, especially after sensing how uncomfortable both of his daughters have been with the idea. Lacey’s approval does not resolve every question, but it removes one of the biggest emotional barriers standing in his way.

The conversation also marks important growth for Lacey, who begins to understand that grief and acceptance can exist at the same time. She can continue loving and remembering Kristina while also supporting David as he considers what the future might hold.

Whether David is ready to act on his feelings remains unclear, particularly while he continues working through his grief in counselling. Even so, Lacey’s words may give him the freedom to think honestly about Amelia without fearing that he will lose his daughters’ support.
