Home and Away’s John is left heartbroken by Dana’s Summer Bay departure, before unexpectedly turning up to support devastated Sonny after their split.
Dana’s decision to leave Summer Bay delivers one of the week’s most emotional moments when she personally tells John she is going. Rather than trying to talk her out of it, John understands that Dana has made up her mind and gives her the kind of goodbye that shows exactly what she has come to mean to him.
Dana has already ended her relationship with Sonny and decided to leave the Bay alongside Harper and Archie. Before going, she seeks John out and tells him what she has decided, leaving him visibly overwhelmed by the thought of saying goodbye.
John tells Dana she is an amazing young woman and says he hopes she finds what she is looking for. He also reassures her that he will always be there for her, giving Dana a heartfelt send-off rather than adding more pressure to an already difficult decision.
The emotion finally gets the better of John as they hug and he breaks down in tears. Dana leaves knowing she has his full support, but John is left behind to process the sudden loss of someone who has become an important part of his life in the Bay.
