Home and Away Jo suspects David has feelings for Amelia
Home and Away’s Jo becomes convinced David may have feelings for Amelia after spotting their awkward chemistry and questioning them both.
Jo becomes increasingly convinced that David’s feelings for Amelia may run deeper than friendship in Home and Away after witnessing another awkward encounter between the pair. Although David continues denying there is anything romantic between them, Jo begins to suspect he may not fully understand his own emotions.
David heads to the Surf Club hoping to spend time with Lacey and offers to buy her lunch. Before they settle down together, however, he runs into Amelia, and the tension between them is obvious enough for Lacey to notice immediately.
Lacey later questions David about the uncomfortable exchange, but he insists there is nothing awkward between them. He explains that Amelia previously admitted she was attracted to him, while he told her he was not ready for anything more.
David appears to believe that conversation settled everything, but Lacey is not convinced. She points out that he effectively friend-zoned Amelia and explains that being rejected does not automatically mean all awkwardness disappears.
Their discussion is cut short when David is called to the hospital for police work. The callout gives him another opportunity to speak to Amelia, and he tries to smooth things over by telling her he should have made more effort to arrange coffee because he genuinely wants to remain friends.
Amelia is clearly uncomfortable with the conversation happening at work and asks him to stop discussing their personal lives there. Jo happens to witness the exchange and immediately starts questioning whether there might be more going on beneath the surface.
Afterwards, Jo tells Lacey what she saw and suggests David could have some level of reciprocated feelings for Amelia. Lacey remains sceptical, but Jo is far less willing to dismiss the possibility.
When David later joins them for dinner, Jo decides to ask him directly whether there is anything between him and Amelia. David once again insists they are only friends and rejects the suggestion that his feelings are anything more complicated than that.
Jo still does not appear satisfied. She has already noticed a difference in the way David behaves around Amelia, and his repeated denials only make her more curious about whether he is being completely honest with himself.
The following day, Jo takes matters further and approaches Amelia at work. She asks directly about her relationship with David, only to receive an answer she was not expecting.
Amelia tells Jo there is nothing left to discuss because she has handed in her notice and plans to leave Summer Bay at the end of the week. The revelation immediately raises the stakes, especially given how closely her decision follows the unresolved situation with David.
Amelia insists that moving on is simply part of life as a locum, but Jo has already started joining the dots. She has seen enough of David and Amelia together to believe their connection may be more significant than either of them is prepared to admit.
For Jo, the possibility that Amelia could leave before David understands how he really feels becomes increasingly difficult to ignore. David may continue calling the relationship friendship, but Jo is clearly not convinced that the story ends there.
