Home and Away: David Pushes Amelia Away as She Considers Leaving Summer Bay

David and Amelia’s relationship reaches another painful point in upcoming Home and Away scenes, with both struggling to deal with the feelings that have developed between them. While David decides that avoiding Amelia is the easiest way forward, she begins questioning whether there is any reason for her to remain in Summer Bay once her hospital contract comes to an end.

Leah and Justin can see the awkwardness between the pair and become increasingly frustrated as neither appears able to resolve the situation. David eventually opens up to Justin, admitting that his plan is simply to stay away from Amelia rather than confront what is happening between them.

For David, keeping his distance may feel like the safer option while he continues dealing with everything that has happened to him. However, his silence is having a very different effect on Amelia, who has already taken the difficult step of admitting how she feels.

Amelia confides in Leah about the situation and reveals how hurt she is by David’s response. She has made her feelings clear, only to be met with days of silence, leaving her uncertain about where she stands with him.

Rather than continuing to wait indefinitely for David to decide what he wants, Amelia begins looking towards her own future. With her hospital contract approaching its end, she suggests that perhaps the situation is for the best and considers the possibility of leaving Summer Bay.

The prospect creates a much bigger consequence for David’s decision to keep his distance. Avoiding Amelia may prevent an uncomfortable conversation in the short term, but it could also mean that by the time he is ready to face his feelings, she is no longer there.

Their personal situation is interrupted when Amelia’s work suddenly becomes the priority. Levi is brought into hospital following his terrifying climbing accident, putting Amelia directly into the medical emergency as Mackenzie, Eden and Abigail race to his side.

Amelia later delivers the results of Levi’s tests. She confirms that he has no fractures to his hand or arm and no bleeding or swelling on his head CT, although the news surrounding the future use of his injured hand is much more worrying.

The emergency gives Amelia something immediate to focus on, but it does not resolve what is happening between her and David. Away from the hospital, David is still choosing distance while Amelia is beginning to contemplate what her life could look like beyond Summer Bay.

David also has another major decision hanging over him as he prepares to return to police work. He tells Jo that he has been cleared to go back, although his daughter remains concerned about whether he is genuinely ready.

With David attempting to reclaim his professional life while simultaneously pushing Amelia away, he risks losing something important before he has properly decided what he wants. Amelia has already been brave enough to tell him how she feels, and she may not be prepared to wait forever for an answer.

Nothing confirms that Amelia will leave Summer Bay or that any possibility of a relationship with David is over. However, her willingness to consider leaving raises the stakes considerably, because David’s strategy of avoiding the situation could ultimately make the decision for both of them.
