David and Amelia’s growing attraction finally explodes into a first kiss in Home and Away, but the moment does not end the way either of them expects. After weeks of awkward dates and mixed signals, David responds when Amelia makes the first move before suddenly pulling away and leaving without explanation.
Earlier, Lacey spots David and Amelia together after another coffee date and immediately becomes uncomfortable with how close they appear. When Mali suggests David looks attracted to Amelia, Lacey lashes out, while Jo and Mali both point out that her dad may simply be happy again.
David and Amelia later head to Salt for another date, although David initially struggles to switch off from work. Amelia deliberately changes the tone of the conversation and steers things in a more flirtatious direction, making their chemistry increasingly obvious.
The pair eventually move onto the balcony for a nightcap, where a few whiskeys help create a much more relaxed atmosphere. Amelia admits she is enjoying herself and jokes that she would normally have abandoned a date long before this point.
With the balcony empty and the mood becoming increasingly intimate, Amelia leans in and kisses David. He reciprocates, finally confirming that the attraction between them is very real.
However, David suddenly breaks away and leaves, offering Amelia no proper explanation for why a moment they had both clearly wanted has sent him running. The abrupt exit immediately raises questions over what is holding him back when his feelings for Amelia are becoming increasingly obvious.
The answer appears connected to something much deeper than simple nerves. David has already lost his wife and is now trying to work out whether moving forward emotionally means letting go of a part of the life he had before.
For Amelia, the first kiss should have marked a breakthrough. Instead, David’s reaction leaves their new relationship facing its biggest emotional obstacle just as it finally begins.
