Home and Away: Cash Takes a Terrifying Risk to Save Levi
Cash faces an agonising rescue in Home and Away as Levi tells him to keep going whatever happens, before the situation takes a frightening turn.
Cash is pushed to his limits as the desperate attempt to save Levi reaches its most frightening point. With Levi still trapped beneath the huge boulder and professional help nowhere in sight, Cash is forced to attempt the rescue himself, knowing that freeing his friend could cause further injury.
Levi understands the danger better than anyone and bravely talks Cash through what he needs to do. His instruction is chillingly clear: Cash must keep going, even if the pain becomes so severe that Levi loses consciousness.
Meanwhile, Mali reaches a road with his phone battery down to just three percent and desperately tries to summon help. His efforts are now crucial, but back on the cliff ledge Cash cannot afford to simply wait and hope rescuers reach them in time.
Cash begins moving the boulder as Levi tries to endure the pain. The attempt quickly becomes unbearable, with Levi letting out a guttural scream before passing out.
Despite the horrifying sight of his friend losing consciousness, Cash follows Levi’s instructions and keeps going. He gives the rescue everything he has until he finally manages to free Levi’s trapped arm.
Cash immediately straps the injured arm up, but their ordeal is not over. They remain stranded on the ledge and dependent on Mali successfully bringing rescuers to their location.
Hope arrives when Cash and Levi hear what appears to be the sound of rescue helicopter blades approaching. Their relief is short-lived when the noise seems to disappear again, leaving them facing the possibility that help may not be coming after all.
Then the helicopter finally approaches. Mali has managed to get through and bring rescuers to them, prompting an emotional moment between Cash and Levi as they press their heads together and realise they are finally getting out.
The rescue may be successful, but Cash is left carrying the emotional weight of what he had to do. At the hospital, he admits to Mackenzie, Eden and Abigail that he feels responsible for Levi’s condition.
Eden and Abigail understand that Cash was placed in an impossible situation and support him. Levi later makes his own position unmistakably clear when Mackenzie struggles with Cash’s involvement in his injuries.
Levi refuses to blame him. Cash had to make a choice, and Levi knows the alternative could have been far worse.
That does not make the consequences any easier to face. Amelia later confirms there are no fractures to Levi’s hand or arm and no bleeding or swelling on his head CT, but his X-ray reveals a far more worrying problem involving his hand.
Cash managed to get Levi out alive when there appeared to be no safe option left. Now both men must live with the consequences of a rescue that demanded Cash do precisely what Levi asked of him, however frightening it became.
