Home and Away: Cash Newman applies for youth mentoring role after fostering decision

Home and Away UK viewers will see Cash Newman take a new step towards supporting young people after he and Eden Fowler decide they are not ready to foster. Cash applies for a youth mentoring programme and discusses helping Tane Parata restart his own project at the gym.

Cash has been thinking seriously about how he can make a difference outside his police work. Although fostering remains a possibility for the future, he and Eden have chosen not to move ahead immediately.

The mentoring programme offers Cash another way to support young people without taking on the responsibilities of fostering before they are ready.

Tane supports Cash’s decision

Tane is pleased that Cash has applied and immediately sees how his experience could help.

The conversation leads them to discuss the youth programme Tane previously ran through the gym. Cash could potentially help bring the project back, giving both men a practical role in supporting local young people.

The idea suits Cash’s strengths. His police work has given him experience dealing with difficult situations, while his personal life has encouraged him to think more carefully about the kind of support young people need.

Cash also admits that work has become overwhelming while David remains away following the shooting.

That pressure may make a mentoring commitment difficult, but it also explains why Cash is looking for something positive beyond the demands of the station.

The new role could become an important part of his future with Eden. They may not be ready to foster, but Cash is clearly not giving up on the hope of helping young people in another meaningful way.
